Surnames: Hood, Ann b. 1834 Ireland
I am looking for descendents of James Hood b. 1829 Tyronne Ireland and his wife Ann (Unknown) b. 1834 Ireland. They immigrated to Ontario around 1847 and had 10 children, most of who stayed in the area. Some of their children were Margaret, Mary Ann, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Samuel, John, Edith and Orpha. I once thought Ann's maiden name was Hamilton, but that proved to be incorrect. I have a great deal of Hood information but have hit a brick wall when it comes to Ann's maiden name. I am the Gr Gr Granddaughter of her daughter Rebecca who married Wesley Heslop in Beverly and moved to Saskatchewan. I know there have to be descendents of all Ann and James's children still living in Ontario and am hoping someone somewhere has a old Bible or some other documentation that might shed light on Ann's maiden name. Thank you.

There are two books (to my knowledge) for Beverly Twp. that contain information about the HOOD family.
"The Church In Kirkwall" tells of the settlement of PETER HOOD and HANNAH GALBRAITH who settled in 1892. The story goes on for about three generations. There is no mention of Peter's parents or where he came from.

The other book is published by the Beverly Heritage Society and is titled "The Pioneers Of Beverly - A Pictorial History. There are several mentions and pictures of Hood families but all are much later than the James and Ann you are inquiring about.

Hi, just noticed your reply. Yes, I am aware of the other Hood families in the area. My Hoods attended the Strabane Church and I think it's called something else now. There are Hoods still in the area, with whom I've been in contact, unfortunately none of them seem to know what Ann Hood's maiden name was either. James and Ann's son Samuel ( named for his paternal grandfather) married a woman named Elizabeth Cook and they raised a large family in the area, his other siblings were my great grandma, Rebecca M Hood who married Wesley Heslop and Orphan Hood who married a Mc Lean. There were 10 kids join all. Thanks for getting back to me...I appreciate it. Marilyn

Forgot to look in my own tree.
Hoods in Strabane.
My oldest Hood record is for John Caddle Hood, b. Tyrone, Ireland who married Anne Caddel, b. Perthshire, Scotland.
They had 8 children that I know of.
See "Family Line of Cecil S. McKnight"
Somewhere down the line you come to Thelma Cecilia Hood a 2nd cousin of mine who married Andrew Baird McKnight
