I am looking for any information pertaining to Matthew McCann (1809-1883) lived in the Acton/Esquesing/Halton area. Also his son Matthew (1843-1931) lived in the Rockwood/Guelph area circa 1880, moved to Bracebridge circa 1906. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Matthew was the brother of Patrick McCann b. abt.1800 from Ireland. They first lived in Acton,Esquesing Township. Patrick had four children, which one of them m. Ellen Rafferty and that is where my connection comes in. The McCanns moved to Oustic, Eramosa Township, Wellington County near Guelph where some still live and some moved to Detroit, Mich in 1901. I have a lot of info about the McCann because there was a close connection with the Raffertys from Ireland to Canada to Detroit. Any other info I would be glad to share

Could you share how they left Ireland? Do you know the ship or where the ship sailed from?

I recently moved into a house near Rockwood, and I was looking up the ownership records for the property. The house I'm in was built around 1900, but the property records show that the 100-acre lot (Eramosa 5th concession, lot 31) was owned by Patrick McCann in 1864, then Matthias[sic] McCann in 1875, and was sold in 1884.
