I am looking for any information on Adam or William Flath of Drayton. William had four daughters and Adam had 11 children. Adam and his sons were carpenters and built many of the buildings in and around Drayton. Any information is appreciated. I have a book called A History of the Village of Drayton. It was written in 1957 by Joseph Davidson and Everon Flath. Since there is no index I typed the book into my computer to make it easy for look ups. I will gladly do lookups or send anyone a copy of the book if they would like one for their files. It is very interesting and lists several families in the area. Some of the families include: Hodson, Armstrong, Henry, Montgomery, Proctor, McKague, Trask, Schieck, Gregory, Reilly, Flath (mine) and Coram. There are a lot more names and families and it is a very interesting account of living in the 1800's. I hope the information in this little book can help out someone.

Hi, Yes, this is my family. Adam Flath was my ggrandfather. He married Barbara Anne Betz and they had 11 children. My grandfather was the youngest child. I have Flath information back to the 1600's but not much on the Dales. I have a book called History of Drayton that my uncle Evron Flath co-wrote and I have typed it into the computer. I will send it to you if you would like to read it. It is a very story of the town of Drayton. And I would love to expand on the Dales family.

my great-grandmother, Janet (or Jannet) Elizabeth Gilchrist, was born in Drayton on 14 February 1858 (or 1859). I would like to know more about her father, John McClellan Gilchrist. "Directory of the Province of Ontario for 1857," by Wilson & Wilson (1987) lists John Gilchrist as a blacksmith and waggonmaker in Drayton (p219). I do not know John Gilchrist's wife's name, now his parents' names. If you are willing to search you book about the history of Drayton to see if John Gilchrist is mentioned, I would very much appreciate you letting me know the reference and citation.

None of the names you mentioned are in the book. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks so much for looking the names up for me. I live near London, ON and don't get up that way very often. Your help was really appreciated. Marg.

If you run across any other names just let me know. The book is only about 60 pages and I will send you a copy of it if you like. I typed it into my word processor because there is no index and it is easier to look up names this way. So, I can email it to you if you like.
