Sally...thanks so much for your message...I believe my grandmother's (Cecilia) mother was Magdeline Koabel & Magdeline's mother was Barbara Trendle. I wonder if your Elizabeth was a sister of Cecilia's father Jacob Willick (1852-1920) and if Cecilia's grandmother Barbara Trendle (b1827) and your John were also sister/brother?

Would you have any info. on ancestors of Barbara Trendle &
Martin Kaobel? Long ago I received info. from an Aunt that
Father Koabel and 2 sons, Martin & Michael came over from
Germany. Father Koabel is buried at the end of Koabel Rd., now called PonyLand. It's been over 25 years since I've been to New Germany/Netherby/Welland. I don't have any idea
where this is. Does it ring a bell with you. The only info. I have for Barbara Trendle is b 1827 and d1902. Any additional info. you have to share is appreciated.

Also, would you happen to know if the St. Joseph's church in New Germany has vital statistics info. to share? OR, if that info. is available somewhere else?

Thanks for any help...appreciate your message....Sheila Jacobs

Sheila; the earliest Trendles buried in St. Joseph's are John "Trentle"b.1802,d.sept.21 1881, and his wife Magdalene,d.1883. they farmed in Willoughby Township on Sodom Road, close to the existing Queen Elizabeth highway.I believe they came, from Baden Germany, but I can't find out if they came through Canada or the USA. Their Children would be Barbara, 1827-1902, wife of Martin Koable.
John 1840 -1919 married Elizabeth Willick b.1848 d. 1926, and an Andrew b. 1844 died 1909. All buried in St. Joseph's.I live in Manitoba, but am returning home in 2 weeks for a visit and will plan to check with the Church for records, and will also ask Uncle BenTrendle about the Koable connection, and the cemetary, as he knows all the roads in the area and has driven me about on previous visits. I often vist the cemetary, as my parents are also buried there. Sally..

My great-great-grandfather, Jacob SCHNEIDER (1832-1912?), lived in Welland County, in Humberstone Township and/or Netherby. (Is Netherby in Humberstone Township? I don't know.) Jacob had a son Fred, born 25-Aug-1861 died 18-Nov-1934. Maybe this Fred is the father of your Fred?

What I know about Jacob SCHNEIDER and his family can be found on my website at http://members.home.net/smithbj/gen .
