Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Ellen, I wanted to respond to your posting. I do have a Lorei ancestor from Giesl, Cassel, Hesse, Germany. I wanted to see if we could be related somehow. My great grandmother Katherine Schnell Koch lived in Greene Township in Erie. This Lorei ancestor is ancestor through her. This person Heinrich Lorey born in 1697 in Giesel, He had a daughter Maria Eva Lorey. I noticed that there are some Loreis buried at St. Boniface Church in Greene Township. Some other related surnames are Koch, Marshall,, Kummeth. Please respond. I can be contacted at szczesny@flash.net. Mike Szczesny

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
I'd like to find out if this may be our "Andrew Brehler" ancestor, wife Maria "Eva" Konig, who, according to "The History of Macomb County", arrived in 1847. Andrew and Eva brought six children with them: Raphael, Katherine, Jacob L, Thomas B, John E, and Albert. This family was found in Woolwich Twp in the 1852 Census, and again in 1861.
Andreas Bruehler Arrival Year: 1847 Arrival Place: America Family Members: With 7 relatives Source Publication Code: 170.16 Primary Immigrant: Bruehler, Andreas Annotation: Hessian Immigrants: Index to Family Names. Book II: Immigrants from Hesse-Kassel 1840-1850. Date and port of arrival. Hometown, assets, occupation, and code of dossier may also be provided. Source Bibliography: AUERBACH, INGE. Hessische Auswanderer (Hesaus): Index nach Familiennamen: Bd. II: Auswanderer aus Hessen-Kassel, 1840-1850. Marburg: Archivschule Marburg, 1988. 517p. Many thanks for your help!

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
The Andreas you mention is from Salzchlirf, district of Fulda, Hesse. The other names aren't mentioned. The only other Braehler/Bruehlers from the same town are Ambrosius who came in 1847 and Fabian, age 23..who left Jul-Aug 1845.

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Thank you - that is most valuable information for me. May I ask if there are any local (i.e. Kitchener) resources to check against those names? For example, the 1901 Census indicated that Raphael was naturalized in 1855--would there be a record of that? Raphael married his first wife, Maria Eva Ederwald (sp?) by the time of the 1852 Census, and their first child, Albert George was born in Apr 1852 in Woolwich Twp--would there be Waterloo Co. or Woolwich Twp RC marriage/baptismal records? Perhaps wishful on my part, but I would like to definitively link this group of eight Brehlers as a family unit if local resources permit.
Your kindness is very much appreciated--thank you.

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
I am working on a book of the early German/French RC's of Waterloo County and area. This is what I have on the Brehler's. I will send another message with the stray Brehler's in my data. Also attached is a marriage. Chris
Andreas Brehler-Braehler {about 1792-after 1851} and wife Maria Eva Konig {about 1789-after 1851} of Hessen, Germany had children Raphael and Catharine. Raphael {about 1821} married Maria Eva Oldenwald, daughter of Heinrich Oldenwald and Elizabeth Reis, in St. Agatha in 1852 and children include Albert {Paulina Borho & Maria Herringer} of Bruce County, Mary {Jacob Kroetsch}, Catharine and John {Magdalena Schneider}. Catharine Brehler {about 1824} married Nicholas Becker {about 1817} in St. Agatha in 1848 and John was born in 1850. Note: Ferdinand Brehler {about 1827-1911}, son of John and Margaret, and wife Clara Schwartz {about 1826}, daughter of John Schwartz and Agnes Brehler, and daughter Caroline {about 1854} {Ignatz Uhrich} were residing in Carrick Township, Bruce County in 1871.
