Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Nikolaus Becker from Mittelrode, District of Fulda, Hesse came in 1845. There is a Johann Adam Becker in the Immigration Book, states he's from Petersberg, Fulda, came Apr 1845. I'm sure that Nikolaus is the correct one, not sure about Johann Adam. They have the same parents. If this Johann Adam is the right one, he could have been living in Petersberg? Not sure. Chris

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Mittelrode and Petersberg are only about 10 km apart, with the city of Fulda inbetween, so it`s feasible. Petersberg is the bigger town (it has a Best Western now LOL); would be interesting to know what brought the brothers to each of these places back then.

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Amazing, Chris--you have uncovered the marriage record of my great-great grandparents AND confirmed she was indeed a Vogel. As with his brother Nicholas, are you able to attach the church record itself?
Regarding the children of Nicholas and Catharine:
Johan (John) b. 31 Oct 1847 per the 1901 Census; Woolwich Twp per his marriage record;
Sabina (called Sophia by her family, plus on her gravestone), b. 14 Mar 1849 Wellesley Twp, according to Waterloo-Wellington Branch OGS - "The District of Wellington Roman Catholic Births 1848, 1849";
Here we have a gap of a few years.
Albert b. abt 1854 in Formosa; d. 1871 (to be verified)
Johann ``Adam`` b. 20 Oct 1855; d. 20 Apr 1930 according to his death record;
Catherine b. 12 Apr 1859; d. 29 May 1927, both Formosa according to her death record;
Nicholas b. 28 Apr 1862 Formosa; d. 20 Sep 1910 Carrick Twp.
Please let me know if you would like more information about any of the above.
With greatest appreciation,
Lisa

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Hi Lisa:
I believe it's where they were born, the towns mentioned in the Inge Auerbach Hessen Immigration Book.
I'll copy the marriage and send it.
"Hadis" had a good site for Hesse Immigration at the Hesse Archives online, but I tried it recently, in the last few days, and had no luck.

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
From my future book................ George Dehler {about 1815}, mason, and wife Catharine Hanner {about 1824} have children Natalie {1848-1934 in Bruce County}{Jacob Lambertus} and Gregory {about 1851}. Note: John George Dehler arrived in New York June 30th, 1845 on the ship Hudson. He is listed as a mason by trade from Besges, Germany, and his destination is Waterloo. Catharine Hahnerin is traveling with him. She is listed as being from Oberunbash, Germany. Nicholas Becker, age 26, also a mason, is destined for Waterloo and he is listed as being from Mittelroda{Middelrodern}. See Nicholas Becker {1818}.

Re: Book Look up Request - Immigrant - Passenger
Well, there's a chuckle: the one baptismal record you shouldn't have found, because he supposedly was born in Alsace, AND, two years before his parents married. Well done, Chris! Out of curiosity, how did the church record his baptism, given his parents' circumstances?
