I stand corrected! This John I did have, although his year of birth varied from 1847-1850. Thank you for the image--I note with glee that my Raphael Brehler is one of the sponsors. I can't make out the given name of the female sponsor, but her surname is Schneider, nee Wagner--another of my contacts in your area has a Brehler-Schneider-Wagner affiliation, so I've asked her about how these families might intersect. With appreciation,

Lisa

The map rocks, Chris--what a find! Now that you have pinpointed their whereabouts, I'll have to try to locate those properties on a personal visit this summer. Thank you for this and your other messages of the last couple of days. Your documentation has now convinced a new 4th cousin of mine from Michigan, descended from Raphael Brehler's brother, Albert, that he and I are indeed related. Another 4th cousin has been inspired to visit church archives and cemeteries in Bruce County, and yet another, connected to me via Raphael's wife, is digging out her Otterbein and Odenwald notes and recollections from a visit to Salzschlirf a few years ago. Finally, a distant Brehler cousin and researcher from Germany has picked up the family from Andreas Brehler's parents, and taken it far back in time. Apparently, there's even a book on the family!

This refers to immigrant Heinrich Schnell (Schell) my g.g.g. Grandfather.

All Heinrich Schnells listed came from Giesel, District of Fulda.
I think that there is only 2 listed. One came in 1837 the other either came in 1847 or 48.

There is a Hans Heinrich Schnell that came from Schrecksbach. Came in March or April of 1848.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. Would you post a photo copy of page 422 of
Auerbach's reference. She also gave a second page number that may apply to Henry Schnell.
