Greetings,
If you would be kind enough to copy and paste your last reply into an e-mail and send it to me at JustKathhere@roadrunner.com , I'd like to talk with you further. I think there is a possibility we are on to something and that Jeremiah Murphy did in fact have daughters. Thank you.

Andy your post does not make sense. Ellen Murphy Houlihan consistantly says she was born Ireland and Ellen Murphy Shanahan on three records says she was born in Canada. We know that both Parick and Jeremiah Murphy were Peter Robinson Settlers; Jeremiah settled in Emily twp and Patrick in the Gore of Emily Twp (later Ennismore) Patrick Murhy had an Ellen born in Ireland 1824, and Jeremiah had four daughters born after he came to Canada. The Murphys, Houlihans and Shanahans all lived within 10 miles of each other. Bob Adair

Any update on the 4 daughters? Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Lines) Murphy are my 3rd great grandparents - each sailing on the Brunswick and marrying in Emily after Jeremiah's first wife Susan died. Anyone ever figure out what happen to Jeremiah went after he disappeared from the township of Emily after 1841? I only know his son Thomas (my 2nd great grandfather) ended up in Mara township, Simcoe Co. (I think it was Ontario Co. back then).

Surnames: Murphy Hoolihan
It's confirmed (as you know) that Jeremiah died in 1847. I have also also confirmed that his 2nd wife Eliza/Elizabeth was still living in at least February 1851. As far as transcripts for your Ellen's middle children, you have probably found (by now) the baptism of her first(?) son James (baptized 20, Dec 1846 to Thos. & Ellen) in which it shows Eliza Murphy as an sponsor. Unless Ellen had a sister named Eliza, I'm guessing Eliza is her Mother (wife of Jeremiah). Does the name of the other sponsor "William Hoolihan" fit as a brother to Thomas Hoolihan? This may be exactly what we need to prove your Ellen and my Thomas Murphy (b. circa 1837) were in fact siblings.

Surnames: Clancy, Murphy, Houlihan, Guiry
I have been searching for the family of my ggg-grandmother Elizabeth Murphy (ca 1830-1901). She married Patrick Clancy of Downeyville. I have come to believe or speculate that Ellen Murphy Houlihan may be Elizabeth's sister. As noted above, Elizabeth is a sponsor for one of Ellen's children. The census evidence for Ellen indicates that she was born in Ireland. Elizabeth's obituary mentions that she emigrated around the age of 16. Elizabeth's gravestone indicates that she is from Limerick, Ireland. Another related family is the Guirys, also of Downeyville. Several family letters and obits mention the connection between the Clancys, the Houlihans, and the Guirys. I think the connections maybe Murphy women but still trying to prove this.
If anyone has found anymore information on these Murphy women, I would be very interested.
