Funeral services for Charles A MacLellan, 74, Wilmington artist, will be held in the Chapel of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania Ave. and Rodney St., tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Interment will be private. It is requested that flowers be omitted. Arrangements are by the Chandler Funeral Home.
Mr. MacLellan died yesterday at his home, 1305 N. Franklin St. He was unmarried.
Mr. MacLellan’s paintings won prizes from the Wilmington Society of Fine Arts and the Pasadena Art Institute. One of his paintings, “Attic Finery,” is in the permanent collection of the Delaware Art Museum.
He was born June 22, 1887, in Trenton, [Ontario], Canada. Mr. MacLellan studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and then came to Wilmington in 1910 to become a pupil of the late Howard Pyle.
He was known for his portraits and illustrations. Many of his works appeared in the Saturday Evening Post and other magazines. He was an art teacher with the Wilmington Studio Group.
He was a charter member of the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts; was also active on the Fine Arts accessions committee, and served as chairman of it for a number of years.

Note: on both of his draft registrations, he gave 22 June 1885 as his birthdate in Trenton, Ontario.
