Wright/Dunklee families, Toronto, 1930

Here we are, 3 years on and I am still a Mr Nobody. I did have a Father who decided he did not want to be involved in my life. I am sure persons in those families must have known of my existence and it would be so nice of them to come forward. I know I shall never meet my Father as he must have died many years ago. My mother Florence Phyllis Bush worked for the Wright family and I am sure her name must have been mentioned over the years. I am at a loss to understand why the Womans Hospital did not retain records of my birth.
We have some programmes {TV} running over here and they are tracing family relatives all over the world, maybe I should ask what can be done for me.
The persons involved only have to come forward with any information they might have, pass it on and see what progress can be made. Such a simple thing to do.
Gilbert.

Hi Elmer
There are many, many people in the same circumstance. You are Not Mr. Nobody - you are Important - The son of your Mother. Florence Phyllis BUSH.-

Do you know the name of your Father? Were you adopted or did you stay with your birth mother? Florence Phyllis BUSH
Women's Hospital did not retain records of your birth ? Perhaps archived.
Sometimes asking a second time - different person may respond with the positive.

HOSPITAL LEDGER
There was a message posted a great many years ago to a message board
Apparently there is a ledge kept for each floor - that will have some information about the patients
When the Ledger is full - it is sent to the Archive - Hospital Archive? perhaps eventually to the Provincial Archive. - Since this information is not sealed - access may be available -

Have you Obtained You Registration of Birth - Long Form Birth Certificate

The Registration has all the personal information required at the time - mainly info re the mother
name, age, marital status - number of children born to the mother - how many living - how many stillborn - Name of Father - In some registrations - the mother cannot name the birth father without his permission.

Your mother worked for the WRIGHT - family ? -they would not necessarily be privy - to information - . DUNKLEE family ?

One never knows all the reasons - that fathers did not want the responsibility of raising a family
Perhaps to young, family objections , already married or committed to a relationship
Or - just did not want responsibility , perhaps he did not know that you were on the way.
Growing up - some young men were pleased with their accomplishment - made them a man - a hero among male friends [ his parents may not know] the female bears the burden of being pregnant - having the child -and perhaps a reputation, the child carries an unflattering title.
There are many children/ adults children of military - travelling workers etc - searching.
There are many women/ girls - taken advantage of - some keep their child.

I have read the reply from sstranger1 and find it rather insulting. If the previous posts had been read, the answers to your posers would have been found.
Do you think I would have progressed thus far without obtaining such information. I am hoping some KIND person might have the courage to come forward and pass on the info I am seeking.
My mother was treated very shabbily when I was about to come into this world. No matter what the situation was with the man concerned, he should have had the decency to face up to his expected concerns. He had his one night of glory and went home happy - what the outcome might be was not of his concern.
As my mother was in service, someone must have been aware of the situation she was in and just left her to get on with it - such nice people.
My mother would never talk about it and I can understand why - she was just a concern to them. He was aware of my existence because my mother, as I have been advised from a very reliable source, wrote to him in 1954 when I was getting married, and, yes, you have guessed it, never replied.
It is possible I have family relatives in Canada and it would be nice just to be aware of them..In total, I have had three contacts get back to me with very unpleasant wordings , which is something I would never do. We are all human and have no control over how we arrive on this earth but when we are here we should face up to our problems in life.
Kindness and consideration is all I am asking, is that too much.
Gilbert

Hey Gilbert: Someone in this family knows something and it bothers me, these people don't decency to come forward they really should be ashamed of themselves. We really should consider looking into putting something in the local papers where they live. Someone in this family has heard the story and knows who you are. We'll get them Gilbert I haven't given up on you.

I just thought about something it just hit me now we might be able to apply through the freedom of information to get access to your mothers files from the Sally Ann which could help find some clues. Let me call around and see what I can find out.

You actually have a really good ideal you might be able to get a newspaper to do a story on your search they do a lot of that now and someone might come forward.

sstanger1 is one of the kindest people on these boards, Gilbert. She doesn't deserve a comment like that.

Hello Donna, As you have noticed I have been sitting back recently, just pondering what it might be possible to do. Just recently I have seen several programmes , on TV , where families have been traced and reunited, after many many years. When I watch them, they get to me, because , like you , I am certain there are people who know things but not prepared to come forward.
I did my recent post , answered by "sstranger1" , and on reading it , I felt as though I had been kicked in the teeth again. The comments were not helpful , making me look rather stupid. Of course I had done all the searching previously.
As I have said previously , I feel my search may never reach a satisfactory conclusion , whilst people , with knowledge , are not prepared to come forward. They have nothing to fare as I only want to determine where I came from - I only know I must have Canadian blood in my system and it would really be nice to know where it came from.
Maybe I am not entitled to know.
Thanks again Donna, for your efforts. Health wise, I am doing well apart from not being able to walk far these days. Hope you are well.
Gilbert

Again Gilbert, kindly refrain from the personal attacks.

Your bitterness and frustration about your search is obvious - don't take it out on the members who are asking questions or making suggestions.

You cannot expect people to read every post you've made in the past about your plight. You even deleted one post. We are not mind readers.

A summary IN THIS THREAD of your quest and the information you already have would have been helpful.

Hey Gil, I sent you a email with some other info. I have a couple of things up my sleeve that might help us push it along again. I can't believe in one of the emails these people sent that they had some "good news for you" and then they changed their mind. Anyway lets not let that get to use please check your email because I think I have some thing we can do.
