I was born in Toronto East General Hospital on 8/24/51 to a woman born in England, 28 years of age at the time with 5 children.
She stayed in hospital very ill - after 5 days she gave me to the people that raised me. She was to have gone home and told her children/husband that I was deceased.
Therefore, there is no birth certificate under whatever the family name was nor is there a death certificate. So for anyone looking that remembers anything like this, don't hesitate to contact me.
If my mothers' other children were upwards of 10 yrs of age, they have to remember something! I am not adopted, so cannot request files from Adoption Disclosure.

hi
I don't have a clue really, I just read you post.
so you know she was British born..
have you looked to see when she may have immigrated?
so you were born in 1951
and you don't know your biological parents and you had all this sibs too?
are you the youngest?
there has to be a record.. really, what steps have you taken and how long have you known about this?

I know from my hospital records that my biological mother went to hospital posing as my dad's wife, using his last name and the name of his wife, however, the other information was incorrect, of course. So, my birth certificate is virtually a fraud!
The hospital says this used to happen all the time and were no help at all! There is a nurse who was on the floor at the time, but they won't divulge any information due to freedom of information - yes, and all I want is the name of my mother.
My mother had to have a friend/relative somewhere that she told. And like I said, if you were a child of 10 or so, you may have remembered something and when you go searching, there's nothing, it would be a 'dead' issue!

I found out in 2000 when I was 49!

Thanks
Darlyne

Surnames: Toronto East General Hospital
I agree... there has to be record of a baby girl born on that date...since you have an approx. age of the mother there HAS to be a admission record....

Where did the father work back then? Possibly an office romance? Family friends, neighbors?

"Dad" was a milkman back then and the story goes that he met this woman pregnant not able to keep the child (which happened back then). He offered to pay her bills etc and take the baby after the hospital stay.

I have the records, however, she went to hospital posing as my "Dad's" wife....so no other records. My birth certificate was changed after a week, but records of change were not kept, just that it was changed back then. So, I am at a standstill - knowing nothing more now than I knew when I found out in 2000.

Darlyne go to www.canadianadopteesregistry.org or google Canadian Adoptees. The site lists adoptees looking and birth families looking. You just never know a sibling might be registered with them.'
This is how we found my son's birth family.
Good luck
