Does the Canadian Govt. have a "freedom of information act" similar to the one in the USA? If so - I am seeking information on a veteran's military record for the Canadian Provost Corps, about 1940 to 1950, on veteran Robert James Cummings Lennox, b. c. 1910 in Toronto area, presumed dead. Known to be stationed in England between 1940 and 1944. Position was Lance Corporal, thought to be associated with Edinburgh Castle Barracks in Scotland about 1941. Returned to Canada about 1944 under less than ideal circumstances.
Would like to know what the last known address was for this veteran, that was shown in his record, and any mention of parent names and spouses of record.
What research resources are available? Where does one write to learn information about family members who were in the Corps?
