Dear SandyJboo1 - Thank you very much for the image you so kindly sent to me. It very clearly shows that Lola Guerin was born June 2 1913. This looks like a primary document and it clearly identifies both parents. Can you tell e what this document is referred to in "the genealogy business"? Thanks again - this is really awesome.

Thank you very much for the material you provided. The date of birth is helpful for sure. It looks like the priest did get the parents name wrong. Interesting that she was going to New York at 16 to work as a servant / maid - I didn't know that but it makes sense. Byng Inlet was a town that depended on industry related to natural resources and its hay-day was ending around the time Lola would have been 16. As I try to track down the date of marriage do you think that microfiche of the Sudbury star a good place to begin? I wonder if there is a database of marriages in the Sudbury area? A database that could be searched?

I am looking for the date of birth and date of marriage for my grandmother who grew up in Sudbury. Her maiden name was Lola Guerin and she was born in Byng Inlet. She was married to Rolland Joly in Sudbury in or around 1930. She lived in Sudbury until her early adult years after which she and her family relocated to Little Current on Manitoulin Island. She had three daughters (Jacqueline, Judy, Francis) and one son (Jack / Jean-Paul). She had a sister who lived all her life in Copper Cliff - married name Johnstone.

I would be interested in what information you can shed on Alice's disappearance.

All I've been told, by my adoptive parents, is that the Menard kids were put up for foster care after Alice disappeared and when Laurent went to jail. The police also unearthed the yard to try to locate her.

I hope you can provide more information.

Thanks for your time.

I only have access to the St. David parish registers and there is no indication of native status published in them. You might try looking up her family information in the online census databases. From what I could find out she was baptised at L'Orignal, Prescott, Ontario, but again, no indication of native status. If you are trying to get solid evidence of native ancestry for registration purposes, you may have to apply for her long form birth registration.

Hi David, thanks for your message, I'm very grateful. Funnily enough I discovered the same information from your brother via email earlier this year! He found some photos of George (Wally) which he posted to my Mum (one with your grandmother Dorothy who looked a lovely lady). Mum was very happy to make contact with her father's step family and to discover that he had gone on to make a happy life back in Canada. Thank you once again for taking the time to reply. Kind regards, Tracy (your step second cousin - I think!)

I realize this response is over a year late, but I thought I would reply anyway. I'm Wesley's youngest son.

My father kept his biological fathers name (Shambrook). Of the 3 boys, my dad is the only surviving child (79 years old).

When I was young, i spent most of my first summers at their house in sudbury.

I talked with my dad, but his memory is very limited in general, so he wasn't a lot of help. He did give me a photo album that of his family with notes in it, but I couldnt find any references to siblings or Wally (I didnt realize his name was George, we called him Grandpa Wally)

His death registration should have names of parents on it.
Also you should be able to figure out approximately when he got married by birth of first child. His marriage registration would have parents on it.
Also he is the right age to have been in WW2. You can get those records from the government.

Here is one site for registrations.
http://www.vitalcertificates.ca/ontario/
