Boyuk

I cannot find any information on my mother. She was injured in 1966 and I can only remember bits and pieces of her childhood stories. Her Father's name was supposed to be Michael. She had a sister Mary (who married a man Harry Burley and resided with their son ((Robert) and daughter in Niagra Falls, Canada), a brother John and brother Peter. She mentioned living in Sudbury Ontario. I have her social security card and Immigration Green Card w/registration number. She used to say she was Austrian and Ukranian, but was a citizen of Canada until an amnesty in the US granted her "legal" status. I have searched Canadian crossings, Mexican crossings (my father was Mexican and I can easily find his info), Austrian ship logs, census for both US and Canada. Her parents supposedly died when she was very young and was taken by a neighbor. She mentions the Prospect Hotel in Sudbury, but it appears to no longer exists.

Any assistance you can give in pointing me to the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

It would be helpful if you listed your mother's name in the message. There were Boyuks who lived on Avery Drive in Espanola, Ontario (near Sudbury) from about 1960 to perhaps 1990. I think the man's name was John but I'm not certain.

Thank you for pointing out such a major error. My mom's name was Anne Boyuk Castaneda (married Antonio Castaneda). However, she suffered a head injury and would sometimes say her real name was Patricia Anne, but she only went by Anne.

Thank you.

Not sure if this helps but here goes....

I was told I have family members who live in Canada who's last name is Boyuk.
I have/had a great-uncle John who was a half brother to my grandfather Walter. My Aunts are Olga (Boyuk) Clemm, Mary (Boyuk) Peterson (I think thats how you spell that), Myrslow Boyuk, Borys Boyuk, & like I said Walter Boyuk was my grandfather.
They were all born early 1900's.
If you have any other information from the "John" on the Canadian side let me know.
Most of the Boyuks I found were born in PA but have come from Canada over from Poland, Ukraine, or Hungary.

Hi Megan,

John was my grandfather. He lived in Sudbury and was married to Justana (Julia). He had only one son also named John who was my father.

I'm currently looking for my grandfathers mothers name.

My grandparents names were also John and Julia. However, they had several children, John, Peter, Mary and Genevieve Anne, who was my mother. It was difficult finding anything on them as Boyuk or Bojuk are very common names.

Have you checked the Canadian Census and Ship Manifests? Was your grandfather born in Sudbury or did he come over from another country? My grandfather was Ukranian.

And, I never found out my great grandparents names. I am sorry. I know how difficult it is. My mother immigrated to the US and I had my mother's social security and green card. I ended up going to the US State Department, Freedom of Information Act.

I don't know if this helps. Good luck with your search.
