Hi
My "Loyalist Lineages of Canada" Volume II has Sgt Geo Barnhart s/o Johannes Bernhardt and Maria Gertraut Rau.
He married Catherine Sharpston 1768 Montpelier VT.
Issue:
Jacob,Wm George, Catherine, Mary, John, Charles, Nicholas,
Henry, Elizabeth, Philip Row, Nancy

1.1 Jacob Barnhart reg KRRNY b 4 July 1769, Ulster County, NY Province,dd 04 July 1857 bur Barnhart Is.??Trinity Church??
Jacob M Catherine Bedford, no date given
Issue:
Benjamin, Charlotte, Margaret, Mary Ann, Jacob, SARAH, Catherine, John.
So there is a potential Sarah!

The Sarah who married John McGinn in 1836 ( I wonder if that was a second marriage, same couple? They did that in the early days before their preferred denomination became available)
In the 1852 and the 1861 census the family religion was Roman Catholic. They were enumerated as "MaGinn" in 1852.

In my Reid's "The Loyalists in Ontario, Sons and Daughters of American Loyalists"

Jacob and family are listed Page 16:
Daughter Sarah's Order in Council as a DUE 05 Jan 1835.
Question is...Was this the correct Sarah?

Surnames: BARNHART, DAILEY
Jacob & Catherine (BEDFORD) BARNHART also had a daughter Mercy, b. c.1800, m. William DAILEY. Her OC was issued 14 Dec 1822 under the name Mercy DAILEY and has been proven to the U.E.L. as a daughter as well.

Hi Thanks for the note re Mercy!

Yes the resources are never complete for sure and many children slip through the cracks! I am wondering If John McGinn who married Sarah Barnhart in Cornwall had a son John who may have been on his own by the 1852 enumeration.

Hi Warren
I have found the original series of posts so contexts are clearer now. If you read all my posts you will see that Reid was the author of Loyalists of Ontario where he tried to document families and some marriages etc. I have it in my library some 2700 miles away.......Our McGinn line settled in Matilda Tp Dundas County not too far from Mille Roches and Cornwall so obviously I wonder if John McGinn was part of us! I am still wondering grin!
