There are elderbaums listed as having been born in Canada which then led me to Cornwall approx. 1830-1875. I was looking for any records of elderbaums from cornwall, canada.

I'm sorry, I haven't got any information on James Dibble. Was he a relative of an Elderbaum?

Is anyone still working on this family? I almost fell off my chair when I saw Peter m. Mary DIBBLE!

I have DIBBLEs galore; and the French "Elderbroom" in my line is really a "BASTIEN". (Also listed as Elderbaum, Debaum, Debrun, etc).

My BASTIEN (Marie) m. an ASSELIN (Pierre/Peter) - in Cornwall around the same time (then to Roxborough, Stormont Co & Cambridge area in Russell Co).

After moving back to the Malone area in 1892, a later line of this ASSELIN (Alfred) married a DIBBLE (Mabel). They were from Malone, NY and migrated through Uxbridge, Worcester, MA to Springfield, Hampden, MA. That's where I am.

Let me know if anyone is still interested in this family!

I have been researching the Elderbroom's also, they are a tough lot to trace, the name is always corrupted.. i am decended from louis elderbroom (gg-grandfather), whom i believe was brothers with peter, i think there were 2 other brothers nelson and frank. louis was also in malone,ny and in cornwall ont. around the same time as Peter. louis stayed in NY, and peter returned to Canada. louis is living with, in cornwall, 1871 census, Beska(?)and Esther Elderbroom, I think they returned to canada for a short time to have a child. I think beska and esther are the parents of louis and peter.

Hello -

Here is an online tree, which includes some of the DIBBLE and ELDERBROOM lines in that area. I have no further information than that which is listed, but poke around and look for familial links. People from small areas are often blood-tied together.

(All my Canadian sources were found on the internet, and should still be out there.)
