I have received and have found much information about Low Dutch. The term is almost synonymous with the modern description "Dutch" which most likely was its root. These people spoke German but were not German and did not speak the same dialect as the Germans or High Dutch. Germany was smaller then than it is today because it was unified around 1800. Holland escaped this process.
