Searching for information/relatives re: the family of James Jardine, b. 14 August 1799 in Scotland who emigrated to Newington area and married Margaret Dix(s)on in the mid-1820's. James' brother John also emigrated to Osnabruck County and married Hannah Eastman. Descendants of James and Margaret began Jardine's Store in Newington. Any connections?

Hi Marg, I don't really have a connection with the Jardine's. My Aunt Dorothy's husband, Bruce Secord (died this past Feb) is a second cousin of Gerald Duvall; Uncle Bruce's 1st cousin once removed, Zella Duvall, married Aeneas Campbell Jardine. So the Secords are 'cousins' of the Duvalls and Jardines. I only stumbled on the Jardines indirectly - Aunt Dorothy and I were in Newington on a Secord search - they are from the Newington area as well. We visited the cemetery and then stopped at Gerald's. We, too, were given the "grand cemetery tour"! What a great guy! We are actually planning to visit him again before i head back to Minnesota, but I'm running out of time!
Was there anything new for you in the info I had, or no? Gerald had a lot more info than I had time to take down that day, so i only took direct lineage data. I have photos of a couple of Jardine headstones - George Ferguson Jardine (son of Andrew F) and his son Aeneas C. on one - Douglas, son of Aeneas' on another. I'd be glad to scan them when I get home and send them if you want them. Good luck Sharon

Dear Sharon:
Yes, these are "my" Jardine's!! Andrew Ferguson Jardine was my gggrandfather through my Dad, Donald Gordon Jardine, my Grandfather, Percival Andrew Jardine, my ggrandfather, James Herman Jardine. My Dad spent about 25 years, 3 trips to Scotland, numerous trips to Newington and hours in front of a microfilm reader to put together our tree which I have input on Family Tree Maker. I have over 900 names on it. Mom & Dad spent time with Gerald and the late Margaret Duvall when they were in Newington and Gerald took him all over the countryside showing him places and many cemeteries with Jardine connections. We would dearly love to find out who James' parents were but have had no luck. Do you have a connection with the Jardine's?? Please let me know either on the board or privately. This is really exciting for me as you are the first reply that I have had!! If you are talking to Mr. Duvall, please say "Hi" from Don & Helen Jardine of Ponoka, Alberta and their daughter Margaret (me) who has caught the genealogy "bug".

Dear Sharon:
And here I thought we might be long lost cousins or something!!!! Thanks so much for the info. You had a couple of place names that I wasn't sure of so hadn't entered on my FTM Jardine tree so thanks a lot!! Yes, I would love to have the headstone photos of G.F., Aeneas & Douglas. Dad had lots of photos that I scanned & put in the FTM photo album but I don't have the ones you mentioned. This is terrific!! My folks will be here tomorrow and my Dad will be thrilled that I heard from you, as I am.
Thanks so much and if there's ever anything I can do for you, don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Marg,
I have some info that might be of some interest to you.
I have the marriage record of a Margaret Jardine, d/o Ferguson and Sarah Jardine, married to Alvin Eastman in 1883 in Chesterville, Twp. of Winchester, Dundas Co.
I have the birth records of 5 children for Alvin and Margaret (Maggie) - all born in Osnabruck.
I also just received the children of George Ferguson Jardine and Mary Margaret Snetsinger from someone who is researching the Snetsingers.
Included with this are the children of Aeneas Campbell Jardine and Zella B. Duval.
Let me know if you would like further details on any of these families.
My connection is through the Eastman line. Alvin is a brother to my gg-gf, Allen Eastman. The Snetsingers come into the Waldroff lines who come into both my Eastman and Boles/Boals lines.

Hi. I have a near complete? history of the Jardine family from 1799 on. It comes from a D.G. Jardine in Alberta. Also have a 2 vol. set of the Jardines of Atlantic Canada. I am looking for the parents of Sarah Fetterly who married Andrew Ferguson Jardine.I am attempting to stitch a mothering tree which shows the last 6-7 women in the family tree. James Jardine I believe was only one of two (or more) brothers to come to Canada. He was born Aug 14 1799 in Annan, Scotland as was John born July 16, 1801 (Annan is in Dumfrieshire, Scotland) James married Margaret Dixon on Dec. 29, 1826. They had 8 children as far as I know and he died March 14, 1883 in Osnabruck Twp.I have a lot more history if you are interested. Please let me know.

I have Mary A Cook born 1850 PA., married Charles Sydney Duval born either in Can or StLawrence CO NY. His father Jacob Duval married Doratha Berger/Barriger 1836 in Williamsburg Dundas Ontario Can. I am not sure where Mary A Cooks family was from. I have found info that her parents were born in PA., Possibably parents were Asa (Ace) Cook and Mary (Maria) Ball. Mary A Cook had brothers...Asa Cook, and Daniel Henry Cook and a sister who married a McDonald.
