At some point a descendant, John Popst, b ca 1820, returned to US. He appears ca 1875, in Rochester, Monroe County, NY and Hazelton, Luzerne County, PA areas. He married Mary Hart (Heart) who immigrated from Ireland in 1847 and they had children born in Rochester, NY, Montreal, Quebec, and Shadigee, NY.
Then ca 1880 the whole family moved to the Colorado goldfields, via Nebraska, where we descendants remain in the western US.
Any helping in making connection between John and his ancestors would be appreciated. Also where would these people be buried?
The family when it came west were practicing Catholics. Is there a Catholic Diocese in the area where birth, death recordings might be found?
If any descendants are in the area we would like to hear from you!
