Looking for information on Jesse Octive Young born in Culver Minn March 1895 and his mother. Jesse moved with his mother Mary Schmitt (also used Downs as maiden name) Amend Young to Fort Frances Ontario about 1897. 1901 census shows Jesse living with his parents John and Mary Young. Jesse's WWI military records states he is living with his mother and his father is dead. His parents were actually divorced and John died in Michigan. 1921 census shows Jesse, his wife, son Stephen and his mother Mary living in Fort Frances. Jesse's granddaughter does not know anything about him.

I think you have found the Mary Young I am looking for even though her middle name was Magdalena. It is the correct birth date and birth place. She lived in Fort Frances. Her father's name was Peter Schmitt/Smith but her stepfather was Charles Downs and the stepchildren used the last name Downs at times. So her son Jesse probably got the first names mixed up.

Also, I know that her son Jesse Octive did live in Winnepeg at one time.
Thanks for the hint on the Jesse in BC. It did come up in my research and I also found it was not my Jesse.

Where did you find the information on her death?
Thank you so much for your help!!
