Hi Ruth - We have found that a David McDonald from New Brunswick was the first McDonald to own land in Hillier Township, Prince Edward County in about 1820. Our ancestor, Alexander Greer, arrived from Ireland in 1823, probably with James Bell Jones. Family history tells that Alexander worked for a farmer called McDonald and eventually married an Ann or Hannah McDonald in about 1828. One of their children's marriage certificates indicate that the parents were Alexander and Ann. Two children indicate on census records that their mother Ann was born in New Brunswick. We have not been able to confirm that Alexander's wife, Ann, was a McDonald and have not found their marriage certificate. Ann died between 1839 and 1844. Do you have any information that could help us identify our Ann?
