Sorry there should have been a comma after the name, Shoemaker is his proffesion. Also I will add that his brother is Willet Brooks ,b. 1836 Hungerford Their mother was Charlotte ( Letty) Benedict.born Sept18, 1797 Grand Ilse. Vermont, M. May 30, 1821 Fredericksburg to George Brooks. Willet married May 30 1860 in Hastings Mellissa Robertson daughter of William and Miriam Cunningham Robertson.of Sophiasburg. I am related to the Robertson,s of Sophiasburg. Janice

Interesting information. I have Charlotte as being born in 1855 but I also have quite a number of children born to Dorus and Jane.

Hi There Lanny
As Janice passed on to you Dorus Brooks had a brother Willet but I believe there were a few more siblings of these two all born to George Brooks and Charlotte Benedict. Charlotte died and George remarried and went on to have even more children!
I'd love to share and compare on Dorus, I have him married 3x's and have only 3 children with he and 1st wife Jane.
Drop me a line Susan

Hi Janice
I saw your post here regarding Willet Brooks and his wife Melissa Robertson. I have been trying to figure out the ROBERTSON connections and hope given that is your line, that you can lend me a hand.
It seems Willet Brooks married Melissa and then her sister Louisa who was first married to Henry Huff. Then Willet and Louisa and Louisa's young daughter with Henry went off to Michigan. Thus I am assuming Melissa died as did Louisa's 1st hubby.
I am having a hard time finding this Robertson family in 1851? I understand Miriam married a Cunningham after William Robertson died, is that correct?
Can you fill in some blanks for me? Susan

Dear Susan, I have only the marriage of Willet Brooks to Melissa. 1860. I did find a tree of Louisa Jane Robertson of Sophiasburg to Willet and they lived in Michigan (Pictues included of the two) they did have Mellissa as their oldest child b. abt. 1859. They had 10 children. If this is they. then Mellissa must have died shortly after her marriage in 1860. It may be that Mellisa Their Daughter could have been of the first marriage and mother died in child birth. I did not have the info on Louisa marrying Henry Huff. Would be interested in when and from what line he comes as I am also related to the Huff family. As to Miriam Cunningham I have her only as mother of Mellissa. and wife of William Robertson,no other info on her. I also have found tracing them (the Robertsons) hard My 3rd great Aunt Elizabeth Peck b. 1818 m Alexander Robertson of Big Island in 1838 and later moved to San Francisco about 1850. I have three Alexander Robertson in Sophiasburgh around 1850 making it a challenge. Janice

HI Janice
Send me your email, I think you can through a secure sight at Ancestry and I will pass on what I know about the Robertson girls...and the Brooks and such if you are interested.
I do have a bit more to add to the mystery.
