Hello:

I'm looking for any info. mainly on the Foster and Boles families of Mitchell, Ont. I know my great-great grandparents names were James and Anne Foster, nee Wilkinson and they emigrated from Yorkshire England in the early 1840's. There 3 oldest children, John, Elizabeth and Martha were born in England. They were born in 1838, 1839 and 1841 respectively. The names of their other children are George, born in 1843, James born in 1846, Sarah, born in 1849, Emma, born in 1854, Jane Ann, born in 1852 and Ursula born in 1854.

I have no further information on George, Sarah or Emma Foster, other than their birth years.

I know that John married Mary Ann Adams on March 20, 1862. Elizabeth married Thomas Harburn on March 20, 1867. (I actually have a lot of info. to share on the Harburn family if anyone is interested). Martha married David Young on April 15, 1867. James married Elizabeth Cooper on Sept. 9, 1871 in Seaforth, Ont. Jane Ann married Hudson James Boles on March 15th or 17th, 1876 and Ursula married Henry Boles on Feb. 14, 1877. (2 sisters married 2 brothers). Henry and Ursula were my great-grandparents.

I'd like to get any info at all on the families that the Foster's married into.

Jane Ann & James and Henry & Ursula came to Manitoba in 1877.

The Boles family (Mother Ellen and 6 children) emigrated to Canada from Hatherleigh, Devonshire England in Oct. 1866. She was a widow. We've been told that she married a Thomas Harris who pre-deceased her and then ? Colquhoun. The names of the other Boles children are Samuel John married Sarah Dobb, William Richard - married Mary Currie, Charlotte - married John Fanson and Charles.

Charles Boles is the mystery person. We've been told that he may have been a child of rape as Ellen was already widowed when she emigrated. We've been told that he was treated very badly and left home at an extremely early age. He may have travelled to the States or B.C., no one is really certain what happened to him.

I'm certainly willing to share what info. I have if you are willing to do the same.

Thanks a lot,

Darcy Martin
