I am William Mcdermott and Catherine Payton's great grandson. I grew up in their homestead at Lot 2, East Oxford Road in the Gore of Downie. My mother was Irma Catherine McDermott - Brenner, daughter of Thomas McDermott who was
William McDermott and Catherine Payton's youngest son.

See this for the McDermotts and the Paytons:
http://www.celticcousins.net/other/descendants_of_patrick_pa...

The LDS site shows the McDermott family in Ireland in 1826 and then in St Mary's Ontario.
In 1881 census with the John Kane family.

An earlier poster said:
William McDermott's parents were Terrance McDermott born Abt. 1776 in Ireland and Margaret Unknown. Catherine Payton's parents were Patrick Payton born 1800 in Kilglass, County Rroscommon, Ireland and Jane/Ann Hogan.

I have a genealogy trail for Mark Killoran and down (at least some of it).
Go to http://www.genealogy.com/users/g/a/r/Ted-Gariepy/
The tree is called Gariepy/Luyben/Prendergast.
Follow the Prendergasts up to William; he was married to Margaret Theresa Killoran.
That particular tree has some errors in it that I'm in the process of fixing, but it's not bad for a first try.

I have a transcription of a document written by Margaret Theresa Killoran; she was my great grandmother. There is a ton of historical information in it. I also have genealogical material from another of her grandchildren (one of my cousins).
I'd be happy to trade information with you. I have a GEDCOM file of the tree, citations, etc. that I built with Family Tree Legends.

Theresa, as far as I can tell, Margaret was widowed after Michael's death in 1913, and found in the 1921 Canadian Census still at 95 Milton Ave. in Stratford, Perth, Ontario, supported by the income from several lodgers. Thereafter, I found her in the 1935 and 1940 Voters Records in St. Catharines, Niagara, Ontario, residing with widowed daughter Ellen Pritchard. By the time of the 1945 general election, Ellen has two tenants residing with her. Margaret is not found with any of her other living children in 1945, so I assume she passed away by then, although I have not found her grave.
