I am very much interested in establishing dialog and sharing information
with others who are researching or have reliable information regarding the
DELMAGE/DULMAGE and DOHERTY surnames of Limerick, Quebec City, Ontario,
Chicago, and New York State.

In particular, I am interested in any information:
1. from those who may be related to one of the descendents of Solomon
DELMAGE.
2. from those who ancestors married into these families.
3. unverified info indicates that Solomon DELMAGE may have died at the home
of Rebecca, his dau. Any information about Rebecca would be greatly
appreciated.

My GGG grandfather was Solomon DELMAGE/DULMAGE (b. 1793 of Limerick d. 1878
Chicago, Illinois). His wife was Mary DOHERTY (b. 1804 of Limerick, d. 1862
Quebec City, Canada). It is believed that this family emigrated to Quebec
City about 1853. Solomon is noted on the 1853 Griffiths Evaluation.

My records indicate that Solomon and Mary had 10 children. My research also indicates that Solomon DELMAGE and Mary Doherty did not have a daughter names Susan unless it was the middle name for one of their other daughters.

"Dina" has been located in Canada using the name Dinah and Diana. There may have been trnscription errors for your "Dina". Dinah/Diana married a John LYNCH. They had 6 children in Canada.

They did have a daughter named Mary b. abt 1823(prob. Limerick)who married a James DOHERTY b. abt 1811 Ireland (prob. Limerick)d. 22 Oct 1883 Quebec, Canada. I believe that they were married in Limerick and emigrated to Quebec abt 1853 with Solomon and Mary.

I have 7 children for Mary DELMAGE and James DOHERTY in Quebec. This has been verifies thru the Drouin Collection and census records of Quebec.

Based upon this, can you make a connection for either James DOHERTY or Mary DOHERTY (wife of Solomon)? I would be interested in the Limerick connection to the DOHERTY families.

Regards,

Ray

Hello - I'm not following any of your family lines, but stumbled upon something that may be relevant for you (or not) while searching some St. Mary's (Perth Co.), Ontario information about St. Mary's area soldiers in World War I. On one of the Ancestors at Rest web pages, St. Mary's and Surrounding Country Soldiers in WWI, is a scanned image from a St. Mary's newspaper page listing the area men who served in WWI. The list of transcribe names follows the image, as it is not readable. In the list is: "Du[hu]age, Capt. F. W." which _could_ be a mis-transciption of the name of one of the sons of your James and Mary Jane Rutherford Delmage. The web page is:
http://ancestorsatrest.com/perth_county_ontario/st.marys-sol...
If you suspect there is a link to one of your family line and wish to check the Canadian Archives records for WWI enlistments, the address to search military records is:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-909.006-e.h...
Be aware that there are mis-spellings/mis-transcriptions in the Canadian Archives database due to the "interesting" handwriting on the records, I suspect.
Sincerely, Jean E. DeLauche
