Greetings. Hope that the following helps to clear up some of these
Blackstock querries.
McGowan
Blackstock born Co. Armagh, Ireland 18 August 1798, died 7 August 1898. Married three times:
1. 1st wife was Mary
Warnock and had four children: Susan; Mary
Blackstock Roe (
Rowe)- she was born in Ireland (1830)and I have her baptismal record; Margaret
Blackstock Vint; Sarah Ann
Blackstock McGowan.
2. 2nd wife was Margaret
McAvoy and they had only one child (perhaps others died in infancy?) his name being James
Blackstock who married
Flora Hunter. James and
Flora had at least five children (one of whom was the Catherine
Blackstock, born circa 1874 in Esquesing twp., Halton Co. as mentioned in one of the above querries).
3. 3rd wife was Mary Gailbraith, a widow with her own family. McGowan
Blackstock and Mary married late in life and had no family together.
McGowan
Blackstock had a brother William who died 13 Feb. 1831 in Chinguacousy twp., buried Home Church cemetery at
Alloa in
Ching. Married Sarah Scott and had three daughters: 1. Margaret
Blackstock who married Patrick
McClure); 2. Abigail
Blackstock who married James
McCulloch and 3. Susan
Blackstock who married William
Stewart Mundell, and these three marriages all had large families.
If interested I have deatils of
McGowan and William's parents and place or origin in Ireland.
Also,
Iris Freeman of Edmonton is doing a lot of research on the descendants of
McGowan Blackstock.
Following the death of William
Blackstock (by a falling tree) his widow Sarah Scott
Blackstock married Long John
McClure, a kinsman of the Patrick
McClure who married Sarah's daughter Margaret
Blackstock. Long John
McClure and Sarah Scott
Blackstock have hundreds of descendants!
Re; the
Vint family, Audrey
Clarke, former Municipal
Clerk of Dundalk, Ontario was doing research on the
Vint and Hill family of
Clarke twp., that moved into the
Grey Co. area and is related to this above family.
I would love to trade information, especially on the first three generations of these families.
