I am trying to contact someone in the Goodfellow family..James Goodfellow purchased a farm from John & Catherine Dennison about 1 May 1850 in Peel Ontario. I am trying to get any additional information about John & Catherine and this farm.

Maybe there are some old pictures out of the farm. The land is located at Lot 1 Con 1 Caledon TWP East , Peel. John purchased the land with his brother James Dennison/Denison...

James married Mary Ann McBride and John married Catherine Alexander or Ingram

The neighbour listed on the 1851 Census shows a Sam & Ester McBride could be Mary Anns father or Uncle?? There is also a William McBride listed at the bottom of the page.

I understand that James Goodfellow died and was buried in a little cemetery by the farm and then later moved to the Laurel Hill Cemetery..We can not find John & Catherine Dennison's graves so I was wondering if they were also buried in this little cemetery and moved somewhere ?

Can anyone help ??

I checked Laurel Hill Cemetery transcription and there are no Dennison gravestones, there are Goodfellow stones but not your James. I checked the other cemetery transcriptions for Caledon Township and neither Dennison nor Goodfellow was found.

Thanks ..Yes I had checked the Laurel Hill cemetery & James Goodfellow (sr) is there but I am not sure if John Dennison or his brother James Dennison were moved or not? The online records may or may not be complete? not sure?

Perhaps this little cemetery on or near Lot 1 Con1 still exists ?? (I doubt it ) I am not sure who owns this property now? Apparently the Armstrong Bros Horse farm has bought up a number of the farms in the area.?? I think they might be called Ambores Farms ?

James Dennison portion was actually sold to a Mr Fudge just after WWI- apparently the Fudge family has the bill of sale . The only Fudge I could find in the area so far was an Annie who married a Carberry- there is a Carberry farm next door to the James Goodfellow farm on the map so I assume it is the right family..Annie's father was Jonathan Fudge

Thanks again

Hi, Re James GOODFELLOW, John and Catherine DENNISON as well Mr. FUDGE

Just a thought - Not all persons buried - have a headstone or a Monument .
All depends on the family - costs etc. perhaps a thought of doing it later - which somehow never comes.
Cemetery Transcriptions - may not show all burials - at the cemetery - No headstones, or monuments - some may have been disturbed - lost -
Cemetery Office - Will know of All burials at their Cemetery.
They may also offer to help - find information from other Cemeteries - Or Funeral Homes.

REGISTRATION of DEATH - will show name of Funeral Director / Undertaker - and Cemetery Address.

OBITUARY:: - may show some information - re names and locations of other family members at the time - will show the name of the Funeral Home in charge or arrangements - may show name o f Cemetery.

Later Sale of the Property - May have been handled by a Real Estate Agent / Company
They may have taken a photograph - of the property - to show - for the sale.

Yes, that is the problem..Too many of the Sr Dennison's died and are buried- with no headstone and the cemetery has no records for them either.

James Dennison died Aug 1869- was a Elder at the Caesar Church and should be buried in the Caesar cemetery however nothing can be found for him,

John Dennison apparently died in 1850- again no record of his burial?? His wife Catherine moved to live with her son Thomas- and lived to be over 100 yrs old- they lived across the road from the Brussels cemetery- some of the Dennisons are buried there and Catherine Dennison should be there too- However there is no record of her there - marked or unmarked grave??

==================================================================

I found out that James Goodfellow ( or his father) who purchased the land from John & Catherine in May 1850- died and was buried in a small cemetery on the land or near the land.

James Goodfellow (was later moved) to the Laurel Hill cemetery- James Goodfellow is listed on the online record but no Dennisons

I do not know what the little cemetery on the Dennison land was called ?

a Mr Fudge later bought the James Dennison land-apparently the Fudge family have the bill of sale - I am trying to get a copy- it was bought just after WW!

We have been searching for many many years for the graves of James (sr) his wife Mary Ann McBride Dennison and John and Catherine (Alexander or Ingram )Dennison

Thanks
Jay

Apparently James Goodfellow gave part of his land (previously John Dennisons) for a Cemetery- It is called the Albion Presbyterian Cemetery..James Goodfellows land is now a Walmartt and Canadian Tire :( Very sad

Apparently there was to have been a plaque put up to knowledge James Goodfellow but it was never done .
