Frances (Fanny) Patchett and William George Balfour, Peel County Ontario

Surnames: Patchett Balfour
Looking for help in figuring out which Frances (Fanny) Patchett is my Great Grandmother. My Great Grandfather was William George Balfour (1859-1914). My Grandfather was George Alexander Burrell Balfour (1899-1967). Frances Patchett's name appears on Burrell's marriage certificate and his birth registry as his mother. Unfortunately I can't find a marriage certificate to tell me who Fanny's parents were. Burrell was raised most of his life by other family members. I have my suspicions as to which Fanny it was but no real proof. There is one family photo that includes all three of them. Most of the addresses appear to have been in Peel County. Any clues would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Ellinspain. This Frances is my number one choice but I have nothing to show for sure. There are some indications that she had children that were raised by her parents. That pattern fits with the way my grandfather was raised too. After her childhood though she doesn't show up on any censuses. Thanks!

She is somewhat elusive.
You likely know all this already but here goes.
Wesley's wife is named Frances as well [1891 census] b about 1867 so that may cause some confusion.
1881 census Peel
PATCHETT
John, 44
Ann, 39,
Wesley, 15
FRANCIS, 10
Joseph, 8
Minnie, 6
George, 4
Lucy, 2

In John Patchett's obit, 1919, Francis is not named. Children named were Serge Roy, Wesley John Thomas, Sarah Ann Stanfield Jolly, George Fredrick, Mary L, Martha M, Warren Stanfield [Patchett], and Lucy Rebecca McCarter.
No Francis!

1901 has three more children with the Patchetts. Lucy b 1880, Warren b 1882 and Surgie b 1885/86.
Frances was too young to be the mother of the first two. Surgie is listed as grandson on 1911 census.
Any chance she died after having Burrell in 1899? Moved to US?
William's death registration, 1914, says he is married - parents Wm Balfour and Sarah Birrell so this is the right person.
Death registration says he was born Stanley Mills which is in Chinguacousey Tsp & Toronto Gore Tsp Peel County so he is a 'local'.
1881 census he and his mother are living with sister/daughter in Peel.

I give up!

Hi Satch. That was unfair of her brother to marry a Frances lol! Confused me a couple of times. I didn't know about the Obituary! I've thought of several scenarios as to where she went, death, America an asylum? I've been trying to find court records, prisoner lists. It didn't take much to get a woman committed back then. For some reason my grandfather Burrell and his father George were black sheep of the family. By all accounts Burrell was a great father, husband and worker so I think he was born with the black sheep thing. In 1911 at age 11 he was living with his uncle George Ward and his wife Harriet (George's sister). With Frances I always think of the term you see in the newspaper "of no fixed address". She's a brick wall : ) Thanks Satch!
