Esther Ann Gardiner Marries W J Long
Looking for any information on Esther Ann Gardiner (b. abt 1878 England) widow of George Henry Cooper (who died 20 Jun 1913). She is listed married to a W. J. Long according to her death certificate. Esther died in 25 Feb 1914 in Parry Sound, Ontario of leukaemia. Esther had 2 children (George & Grace) by George; who Mr. Long put into an orphanage when she died.
These children were raised by a Haines family in Stisted, Ontario who I am told are related to Gardiners?? Any information regarding these names is appreciated.

Re: Esther Ann Gardiner Marries W J Long
You were looking for a Gardiner/Haines connection. Here is one. Death: Esther Gardiner, b 24 April 1851, died 1 Feb 1914, lot 23 Con 1 , housewife, d/o Edward Haines b Mallow County Cork Ireland and Margaret Fraser b Limerick Ireland, inf: John Gardiner of McKellar, under cause it says 'see original medical ????. Hagerman, Parry Sound District.
George Cooper died in insane asylum in Toronto. Only one I could find listed that died on the date you have given.
George and Grace are with Thomas Haines on 1921 census in Georgina York County as nephew and niece.
George Henry Cooper was born 20 Jun 1901 York Ontario s/o George Cooper and Esther Ann Gardner. He married under the name George Henry Haines. Mary Isabell Grace also was married under the name Haines. According to Ancestry these children were also born to George Cooper and Esther Gardiner. Mary Isabella, b 2 Dec 1904 Dorothy Helen, 7 Mar 1903 Mary Isabella Grace, 2 Dec 1904- same as above
1911 census Parry Sound LONG William, b Dec 1872, Ireland, engineer, immigrated 1873 Ester, Jun 1879, England, immigrated 1881 George, June 1901 [same month as George Cooper] William, Sept 1907 John, May 1909 Could this be your Esther and George is George Cooper? If that was the case William and Esther were never married. I have not found a birth rego for William or John.

Re: Esther Ann Gardiner Marries W J Long
Thank-you I do think this Ester Gardiner (b1851) is some how related to my Ester Ann thru marriage but have not found a firm link, only supposition and a hunch.( Believe her husband John was either uncle or brother to Henry Gardiner(Ester Ann's father). zi have not found anything listing his siblings, to confirm.
Thomas Haines and his sister Charlotte did take George and Grace out of orphanage and kept them with them till they were of age to leave, and listed them as nephew and niece ( again my hunch of link to Haines other than good people)
Both George and Grace took Haines as surname instead of their birth Cooper surname (no one thought to ask why when they were alive)
I did hear in family stories that WJ Long had 2 children of his own and that was why he placed George and Grace in orphanage when Ester Ann died.
this all seems to fit, so will did a bit more with this, thank-you!
