My Henry Harrison HINES arrived in Wentworth Co, ON circa 1850. He was born 1817 in Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY [tho' this is not proven]. He may have arrived in Canada as early as 1844.
His (13?) children were born in NY and in ON (aka Canada West) during two known marriages [FALLS; SHAFER].
He was an innkeeper/ hotel keeper (1850's Mount Hope/ Glanford Twp) then a farmer and butcher (Glanford Twp & Barton Twp and Hamilton Farmers' Market). Henry and several of his sons moved circa 1870s and 1880s to the Huntsville and Bracebridge areas where some sons established their own families.
Henry died in Bracebridge, Muskoka District, ON in 1901 and is buried in Hamilton (York St. Cemetery), Wentworth Co in a family plot.
His descendants have spread throughout Canada and the USA. Several of his sons fought in the Civil War (Union Army) and remained in the USA. So far, civil war records have been found only for Henry Franklin HINES and James Almont HINES.
If you know or believe or suspect that you are or might be a descendant of these HINES lines, I would welcome your questions.

Thanks...
