Is there anyone out there from the Port Loring area that could help me? I would like to know if any history type book exists for this area. I had relatives that ran a hunting lodge there in the early 1900's but a fire destroyed all family records. I need a starting point and thought a history book would be a good place. Thank you. Barb

I have just found out such a book exists. It is called McConkey Corners. If anyone knows how I could get a copy of this book I would appreciate it. Barb

Hi Barb
just a short note to say hi and to see how your research on the Port Loring families are coming?? I've had 2 computer crashes in the last year and half, so most of my data and contacts have been wiped out.. and since I just came across the message as I'm searching for the Cain family, I thought I would drop by and say Hello.. Karen

Hi Karen. I should have answered you long ago. Sorry. I really haven't been doing a lot with family history recently. I was working for a year and now we are getting ready for our son's wedding so not a lot of time to search. I hope to get back into things again this winter when things (hopefully) slow down. I was in contact with a cousin in Port Loring but he was very sick and I have not heard from him for a long time. He may have passed away by now. How are you coming on your searches?
