I am looking for any information about Alvin Allen married to Grace Sutherland August 7, 1834 both living in Zorra at the time. Married by Wm. H. Landon Baptist church, Blandford. Witnesses Archibald Burtch and Sarah Houghton.. I am descended from Janet/Gennet Sutherland who married Martin Ellis Barney March 3, 1840. She was born in Scotland ~1824. Her sister Catherine was born in Ontario in ~1834. Her sister lived with her after 1871 However I have been unable to find their parents names. I believe the Grace Sutherland who married Alvin Allen was their mother and her first husband ____ Sutherland (first name unknown) died by 1834 and Grace remarried to Alvin Allen. I would like to prove this and find out the name of Janet and Catherine's father, possibly Grace's first husband. Alvin was one of the witnesses at the marriage of Martin Barney and Janet Sutherland of East Oxford (Barney) and Zorra (Sutherland) in 1840. Martin and Janet named on son James Alvin and their first daughter Grace Elizabeth. Alvin Allen was living in the home of Martin and Janet Barney in 1881 census of Woodstock as a widower, age ~87. A Grace Allen was listed in the death schedule of 1871 at age of 82 in Woodstock. Eli Allen, a brother of Alvin, lived in Woodstock. Their mother Sarah North Allen died in West Oxford and was buried in Woodstock in 1839. I would also like to know if Grace and Alvin had any children, Grace would have been ~43 when she married and Alvin a few years younger.
