Birth of Mary Lundie Waldron

HI,

I am trying to find information on my 2nd great Aunt. Her name was Mary Lundie Waldron. She was born on 7/1/1848 according to cemetery records. Her parents were Rev. Schuyler Waldron and Mary Potter. I know that by 1855 her parents had moved the family to Wisconsin. I believe they might have lived in the Murray township area.

Any suggestions would be great.

My father has a lot of family in that cemetery as well. For some reason, some of the stones have been removed. I think there is an erosion issue, but we're still trying to find out. The stones we were missing were on the highest side up near the fence.

Edith died in 1929 so Garnet would have to have gotten a divorce or Lyla and his marriage would not have been legit.

I think Garnet and Lyla were married in 1928. Edit his first wife died in 1926.

Just an update. Garnet Ashton Titus's first wife died in 1926 so his marriage to Lyla is legit as they were married in 1928.

I am trying to track down relatives that lived in Hastings Ontario. My father was Arthur Blackbourn and my mother was Marie (Seymour)Dorothy McColl was my dad's sister and her son's Dennis and David were twins and at one time Dennis was living in Peterborough, not sure if he still is with his wife. David McColl was living in Hastings. My sister Lois was born in Hastings Ontario and wants to come and visit May 25/26 weekend and see a few relatives. How do I go about finding some of these people? Cousins) Aunt Marg and uncle George Dean lived in Brantford. Aunt Muriel just passed away, she was the last of that group and my last Aunt and I did not know. Please contact me. Thank you.

Thank you, this confirms my research thus far. I believe that Benjamin (1786-1863) had a brother Isaac and I am moving on that branch of the family.

I have not personally verified where Benjamin Terry came from. Here's all I have: Mary (Polly) - b. 16 Aug 1792 d. 3 Mar 1869 in Murray Twp. Married Benjamin Terry in Wellington, PE Co. about 1812. Benjamin was b. 19 June 1786 in USA and came to Canada from Philadelphia, PA in 1812. He died 18 July 1863 in Murray Twp. Benjamin and Polly were Quakers and belonged to the West Lake Meeting while living in the Wellington area. There are some records of their family in the Meeting records. - from Lisa Curtis research received via email 4/20/05.

At this point, I don't know how to contact Lisa Curtis.

As far as Mary/Polly Andus, this is from a manuscript compiled by A.C. Bowerman. I am descended from a brother of Mary/Polly. I know there are mistakes in the Bowerman manuscript, but it seems fairly certain that Mary/Polly's information is correct. I also believe that in addition to brothers Palmer and Gordon and sister Sarah, she had a sister named Elizabeth (born Oct. 21, 1800) who married Jonathan Clark.

Your post is very intriguing. Would you please confirm that Benjamin Terry mentioned lived in Pennsylvania and immigrated to Ontario, Canada and died in 1863?
If they are one and the same then I thank you for the introduction to Isaac. Can you provide any further information on Isaac and his family? Also, I can't seem to find information on where Benjamin immigrated from (England, Germany, etc.) to arrive in Pennsylvania and who his parents were.

Hi,

I suspect that they were married around middle to late 1840s. I did find that Schuyler was born around 1821 in Murray Township. Their children birthdates started around early 1850s before they emigrated to Wisconsin.

Schuyler P. Waldron and Mary Potter.

Supposely they lived in the Murray Township. Schuyler's parents were John Waldron and Susan Couch. I do not know who Mary's parents were :-(

I am looking for information on Edward Duncan McKenzie from his time in Canada. What I have is a family notation that he was born in Toronto. (The notation says he was born in 1939, however, U.S. Fed. Census records and his Canada death record have his birth at 1844.)

I found what I believe to be his death record an ancestry in: Ontario, Canada, Deaths, 1869-1938 and Deaths Overseas, 1939-1947 . It says that he died 6 Jan 1912 in Simcoe.

I have no information on him between the 1880 U.S census (he was living in MI) and his Canada death record. I'd appreciate any leads or resources you could turn me to.

Just came across this message while doing some genealogical research online. John McHale was my great-great-grandfather. (My paternal grandmother was a McHale.) From what she told me, he was born in Stockton-on-Tees, England, where his father Philip was a customs collector. (John's mother was Honoria or Honor Sheridan.) But the family was originally from Ireland (near Westport, County Mayo), and that's where the family returned after Philip died in 1837. They were present during the Potato Famine. John had trained to be a priest, but around 1848 he left the Church, emigrated to North America (with his brother Miles, who settled in Baltimore, MD), settled in Ontario, Canada, and married Susan Lucy Bennett, a Methodist. He was a carriage maker who worked for many years in the Cobourg Car Works, and also taught school at some point.

Also try FindAGrave.com.. I have usually gotten good results when you request a photo of a memorial.. it's all volunteer work. Make sure you ask permission to use the photos that are posted, some people are VERY protective of the pix they take of other families memorials. (Don't ask me why) Dave

Was Bessie's husband Alex? I remember my mom talking about Alex. He paid for Victoria gerow's cemetery plot at St John's Norway in Toronto. Victoria was Bessie's mom. I will look for the documentation I have tomorrow.

Hi again. Your grandmother Tempa would have been my husband's mother's aunt as Tempa and Bessie were sisters. My mother-in-law, Florence Donaldson Simpson is still alive and living at the Mennonite Home in St. Catharines Ontario. Unfortunately her mind and memory are no longer clear. Hi Cathy! How are you related to Hiram? He would have been my husband's great-great grandfather .... if in fact he did father Bessie Bell in 1892. If not ... who knows?

Hiram was a fascinating man. He was married3 times. He walked out on my great grandmother,too. I have a picture of him with all his sibs taken around 1939 that I can share. I also have some other papers about his other wives that I would be happy to share. So exciting to be in touch with a long lost relative.

I too have been researching the Gerow family tree and am very confused as to what happened to Hiram Bell. He was my mother-in-law's grandfather. My MIL is Florence Simpson, daughter of Bessie Bell and granddaughter of Hiram. She is 94 now and tells us Hiram died very young. However, this could have been a story concocted to cover the fact that he had 'flown the coop'. Would love to hear if anyone has found more information about this 'mystery man'. Many thanks.

I just ran across another family member
who states, Samuel Boyd and Mary Henry married
in Canada. Seem's Mary was an only child.
Sam comes from Ireland. So sick of sea travel,
comes off in Canada.
Is there any way to check for their marriage?
Probably between 1848-1857.
That should be enough a range to catch them in.
We have two spots Peterborough & Northumberland,
as to where Mr. Henry's farm was.
All I know for sure Mary states Upper Canada or Canada West in her census records.
They were in the 1861 Monagh, Northumberland, Canada census.
From there to the US.
I heard they came from Canada to NY where their first two cchildren were born, before returning to Canada. By 1870 they were already in USA.

Based on Thomas Colwells' obituary above, it stated he had:

These would be the children of Jacob Jones and "Margaret Dingman" who married on Jan 9 1865 in Northumberland County.

I believe Thomas Colwell's mother was Margaret Dingman who was born June 30 1832 in Percy Tp., Northumberland Co., and who died in Orland, Brighton Tp., Northumberland County, on May 28 1918. She was the daughter of Peter Dingman and Margaret Robertson.

On the 1861 Census, I believe they called him "Thomas Dingman":

Pre-1852 Hicks families of Hamilton Twp and Cobourg

In the 1851 census (taken in 1852), there are three Hicks families in Hamilton Township - George and Joshua (both born Canada 1814-1823, possibly related) and James (born 1829 in Ireland).

The Cobourg personal census for 1851/2 has not survived, but Joseph Hicks appeared in the agricultural census, and several other Hicks do appear in the Cobourg marriage records that have survived. So there were definitely Hicks family members in Cobourg. I have no information on whether they were related to George and Joshua.

My interest is in tracing the ancestry of George Hicks.

It seems very likely that Joshua Hicks' parents were from Luxulyan, Cornwall since I have found Luxulyan baptims and marriage records of several of the HOARE family members on the same census page as Joshua Hicks.

I would like to hear from anyone searching the Hicks families of Cobourg or Hamilton Township (excluding the recent-immigrant Irish-born James Hicks family).

Thomas Garratt (s/o Caleb & Dorcas Carman of Prince Edward County)married Hester Osterhout and had 2 sons - Thomas Robinson and Reuben C. All were Quakers. Sometime before 1851 Thomas died. His son thomas Robinson was a municipal and court clerk and a bailiff.
I can find very little on Thomas and Hester in Northumberland. If someone can direct me to a source, it would be most appreciated.

Does anyone have any information on John Alistair Cameron? Born May 1, 1813, he lived in Upper Canada (Ontario), and married a Mary Ann Page, I think. He is listed as the father of William Kirkland Cameron. I cannot see anything on him, or on Mary Ann Page (1813 - 1882). Any information would help, but I would love to know either of their parents.

My mums grandmother was hazel maud dunnet ,(black) her father was William dunnett who married Martha dunnet. I think he married again to Louise wood! Martha died of consumption! William had father of same name who married Matilda Linton! They are my 3rd great grand parents!

Hazels daughter was my grand mum ! On birth certificate recorded as being Florence dawn black! I think hazel was known as Florence too!

I am looking for any available information on George Hewitt who was supposedly born in Sydney New South Wales, Australia and who migrated to the United States and participated in the American Civil War. He enlisted for a period of 3 years as a Private and saw service in the U.S. Army General Services. He was reportedly killed accidently during the war, due to an accidental death from wounds received. He may have also deserted in June 1861 from Fort Snelling.

This is John David Heenan again. I wish to correct my earlier error to clarify that my birth information does not show Joseph Heenan as my grandfather; so that is an error. I do not have a record of my grandparents but are looking for some if you can help. My mother was Elizabeth Heenan from Etobicoke Toronto Ontario, and she was born circa 1936 in Ontario.
Any information anyone can provide would be most gratefully received.
