Hello Shawn,
You've kind of added your post to the end of a very long collection of posts here. You may want to start a fresh post as I had to go to page 3 of the replies to find your 15 Nov 2007 post.
But as for your BRADLEY's have you read "Oak Heights Neighbours" and "Memories of Haldimand: When the Lakes Roared"? These books are available to read free page by page online at
www.ourroots.caYou can search for them by Title then search each book by surname or read them page by page.
Oak Height Neighbours page 29 mentions 1851 census George BRADLEY age 24 with Maria (Porter) 24 and Cornelia age 4 and Esther age 1. Same page William BRADLEY sold E1/2 L3 C7 to George PORTER in 1851.
Page 30 lists marriage Maria H. PORTER of Cramahe to William BRADLEY on June 11, 1844 and 2nd marriage Maria BRADLEY age 50 of Haldimand born NY State d/o Elisha and Electa PORTER marries John FINLEY age 59 of Haldimand born Ireland married Feb 8, 1862.
Page 81 in book has more on them. Page 30 also mentions in Russ Cemetery Sarah BRADLEY wife of George W. died Apr 11, 1840.
Anyway I'm not sure but if Maria PORTER married William BRADLEY in 1844 but is living with George BRADLEY in 1851 maybe George and William are the same person? Perhaps his name was William George BRADLEY?
If that is the case there is quite a bit on William BRADLEY in both of these books. Memories of Haldimand mentions 1803 census Haldimand there are 3 BRADLEE men - Lemuel, Nathan and William later spelled BRADLEY. Perhaps there will be some clues in following these 3 men of 1803 forward through the census to see where they lived and when they were having children as you hunt for your George.
The Memories of Haldimand book has several pages on them if you haven't seen it its worth a look.
One other thought is maybe Maria PORTER is not the same person as your Julia Maria CARTER but CARTER and PORTER are very similar just the first two letters differ so maybe a transcription error crept in as writing was hard to read sometimes back then?
Also there were BRADLEY's in Eddystone area of Haldimand Twp as it was first called Bradley's Hollow so maybe research Eddystone cemetery.
1851 census George was Baptist and the cemetery there is at the Baptist Church. I hope this helps. I connect to a few BRADLEY's but none directly. I hope you find my message here as it is quite deep in the thread of this original posting. Bye- Mary
