Looking for information on Robert Carr, born around 1830, husband of Rebecca Ford (marriage likely mid 1850's). Lived in Cramahe and Brighton Ontario and possible Rochester NY. I suspect Robert died between 1859 and 1862 as Rebecca Carr (d of Henry and Clarisa Ford) re-married on 19 Jan 1863 to James Cross in Brighton, Northumberland Co.

Robert and Rebecca Carr are shown as parents on the following Ontario marriage records:

ii) Jessie Prentis (maiden name Carr) to Benjamin Pealing, 23 Oct 1880 Trenton
iii) Jessie Prentice (d of Robert and Rebecca Carr) to Frederick Sipe, 11 Jul 1882, Peterborough Co
iv) Jessie Sypes (d of Robert and Rebecca Carr) to Reuben Gollinger, 31 Dec 1885, Simcoe Co

Elizabeth Carr b in Brighton abt 1859, parents shown on second marriage:
i) James Cannon (1849-1898), no marriage record found, but James and Elizabeth had 4 children (see below).
ii) Elizabeth Cannon (d of Robert Carr and Rebecca Ford) to George Allan, 29 Jun 1904, Asphodel /Norwood, Peterborough Co

Children of Elizabeth Carr and James Cannon:

I have some info that I can give you on the daughter Jessie.

She married Lewis Mason Prentice in Carrying Place, Brighton Twp, Ontario, Canada on 10 Nov 1877. ( Archives of Ontario; Marriages MS932; Reel: 24, # 007689, Pg 215)

She had one child with Lewis:
Norman Wallace Prentice, B: 26 Feb 1878, Baptized 5 Oct 1879 in Trenton, Ontario. ( Source: St Georges Anglican, Ontario Dioceses, Kingston, Ontario)

Lewis Prentice died just before Norman was born. No record of adoption but Norman took Sipe as his last name. ( Source: Marriage Record to Violet Montgomery, Ontario Archives: Marriages, MS932- Reel 124, # 018931, Pg 218).

Children of Jesse Carr and Fredrick Sipe
Mary Sipe, 1886, ( Per 1891 Canada Census: Sault West, Algoma, Ontario; Roll: T-6323; Family No: 98)

Children of Jesse Carr and Rueben Nelson Gollinger

Thank you for the information. With the additional information, I see Jessie's father is sometimes called James and sometimes Robert. Gives me another angle to search.

Good Luck. That branch of the family was a real quest.

Not sure where they " hailed" from. Jesse said she was born in Quebec on one marriage record and that her mother was from Quebec.
Not sure what to believe.

Agree, she is very confusing, her birth is successively reported as 1856 in Brighton (Carrying Place); 1858 in Rochester, USA; 1861 in England and 1863 in Ontario!

I can't confirm whether she is part of my wife's family: Elizabeth Carr b in Brighton abt 1859 and her sister Mary Ann b in Cramahe abt 1857. Elizabeth and Mary Ann's parents were Robert Carr and Rebecca Ford. Their mother remarried in Jan 1863 (in Brighton township), so Robert likely passed away when the girls were very young. Census records for Elizabeth and Mary Ann say they were of German origins, with both parents born in Ontario. My father-in-law said he had Pennsylvania Dutch ancestors which is consistent.
