My great grandfather is reported to have been born in Simcoe in 1843, but could be 1846. He was Francis Marion Frear, though at one time the name was being spelled FRAER & FREER. His grandfather "Joshua" Michael FRAER supposedly died in 1842 and it is believed that he died in Simcoe as well, because the family didn't make it to Michigan until 1850. Francis' parents were James H. FRAER and Clarissa SHAFFER. James' sister, Sarah, also went west with her husband Daniel WOODWARD. The family originally came from New York, and are part of the FREER family of New Paltz, New York and were Huguenots (Reformed). Is there a possibility of locating birth or baptismal records? Thanks.
