Hi,
My ggranfather disappeared in Canada. His name was Göran Persson, or in English George-John and Person or something.
We believe that he came to Halifax February 26, 1891. His destination was Ontario, probably the Ottawa region.
All information is valuable.

Christer,

I don't think we have a connection. My Annie Person (or Persoon) probably died in the Hamilton, Ontario, area before 1818. She may have been an Indian woman, and that's what I'd most like to verify.

I am not sure if this will help anyone. I was just sent a list of family found in an old box. I don't have dates and my grandparents are dead. But this is what I have hope it helps someone. My great grandfather was named Thomas Appleford and married a lady named Euphemia they had two sons Roy[my grandfather] married Ethel Clark and William. They also had two daughters Mildred married a Metzger and Mabel married a Nichols in St. Catherines. Most of the family ended in Upstate New York. Buffalo area.

I have a Niram Augustus PETTIT who married Ellen WEDGE on Jan. 3, 1872 in Burford, Ont. Niram was a son of Stephen PETTIT and Eliza Jane HODGES who lived in Windham Centre, Norfolk Co. Niram died on June 11, 1885. He and Ellen had 2 sons, John and Emerson, who moved to Michigan at some point (according to my grandmother)--I would like to find out more about Ellen, John and Emerson.

My grandmother also said that her grandmother's sister, Mary BENNETT/BENNITT (1813-1886), was married to a John WEDGE and told a ghost story concerning him. However, the only marriage I can find for Mary was with George TERRYBERRY. Perhaps John was her first husband? I am also interested in verifying whether this marriage took place.

I do not have a direct connection to the people you mention, but the following notes may provide you some clues. I have notes on several Wedge families from Burford, ON, from various sources. I have not been able to fit them all into the puzzle.

*****
Children of ANDREW WEDGE and LUCY COLE are:
i. HENRY3 WEDGE.
ii. JOHN WEDGE, b. 1818; d. Abt. 1885, Burford, Ontario, Canada.

Notes for JOHN WEDGE:
Note on Andrew Wedge from the unpublished papers of George Arnold Nunamaker, James A. Gibson Library, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, page 3-1:

"If John was a son of the 2nd marriage, the dates given for his birth and death must be in error. [John Wedge, 1818 - 1885-6, Burford, Ont.] His grandson John Pettit, of Fenwick, Mich. says his grandfather died when he was 8 years old, and his age 68 years, and is buried south of the four corners in a little cemetary [sic.] near Burford, Ont. Lucy, dau. of Mrs. Lucy Cole b. 1776 at Sacketts Hbr... (Perhaps if related, this John Wedge was a son of the 1st marriage) ..."

*****
Harvey Wedge, married Ruby Pettit; Harvey son of John Wedge
*****
John William Wedge, b. 1868, Burford ON, d 1954
*****
John Wedge, b. 1818, d. 1885 Burford, ON
*****
If any of the above appear helpful, please contact me for sources, etc. I am collecting bits and pieces of information on all Wedges of Ontario in hopes of organizing it all some day.

Jan, could you please send more info re: Thomas Morden and his son Horatio Nelson Morden, My ancestors are the LONG's of Aldershot / Burlington and on John Long's will dated June9,1876 as executors, are listed Wm. Long Morden, Horatio Nelson Moerden, and his 2 sons John Rolph Long and Jacob Suraras Long. I have for a long time been trying to connect the Morden and Long familes through the Catherine Morden and Elias Long union to my William Long that was born in Penn., (1782- 1858) and his son John Long (1815-1876) If you could shead any light on this for me I would be very HAPPY indeed. Also you mention Rock Chapel Cemetary where would that be? I have a place of that name very close to me. Thankyou again, Katharine

Could you perhaps post dates for your g.father? that gives and indication of time and can be helpful in looking up census info. Also maybe a place of residence or birth in known?I have a picture of a mabel Blanch (e0 nichol(s) We have no other information. We assume She either married a WOODWARD or a TRASK. Again we aren't sure. WE know that the Nichol(nicholl or Nicholls) family was from canada
