Looking for further information about Ann Boulton, who was murdered by her husband Christopher Boulton, tailor, in St. Catharines, in early 1862. The latter was convicted and executed for the crime.
The murder also led to the discovery of stolen goods, and Robert Anderson, Ann's son from a previous marriage, and Edward Cottrell, shoemaker residing with the Boultons, were charged with larceny.
Ann also had two sons with Christopher, John Thomas and George. A neighbour named Mary Ann Sutherland testified at the trial, as did Robert Peterson, Market Clerk.
Ann's former husband was deceased, according to testimony given by Robert Anderson: "About two months ago Christopher Boulton told me he had seen and spoken to my father, who had been dead some time. He said the same thing last April. The last time he said he saw my father, he was perfectly sober, and seemed to be in earnest. I told him he was a fool. He said he might be, but did not think he was."
