I was wondering if anyone can help me research my Ancestor's time in Bracebridge Canada.

Her name was Madaline Robson and in 1881 she was 12/13 living with Her Aunt Ann Bohills (Formally Kennon) Her Uncle Jame Bohills and their children; James, John, Kennon and William.

James brother John also lived with them.

They were all from Northern England (Newcastle Upon Tyne and its surrounding areas)

By 1890's it appears thay were all back in Northern England.

Madaline ended up Marrying a John Gordon from Scotland but if they married in Canada, America or Scotland is unknown. I can't find any listings for their marriage in England and wales

Birth:
William Christopher, b 22 Nov 1879, s/o James Bohills & Ann Hennon, Bracebridge. Registration # 017022.

He is not on 1891 census in England but I didn't find a death for him or James in Ontario.

A James Bohills died December quarter 1886, registered at South Shields.

There is also a William Christopher, death registered at South Shields, 1877 [born 1875] but the above William Christopher wasn't born until 1879 [William Christopher #2]

From FreeBMD
Madeline Robson married John Gordon,
Registered Gateshead Dec 1891.

1891 census Elswick Northumberland
KENNON
Mary, widow, head, 83, living on own means, b Newcastle
Mary, daughter, 42
ROBSON,
Magdelena 23, granddaughter, b Newcastle
Mary H Robson, 3, granddaughter, b Newcastle

Is Mary's Magdelana's daughter?

1901 census Heworth Within, Durham
GORDON
John, 45, railway porter, b Scotland
Madeline, 33, b Northland Newcastle
Hannah, 13,
William, 8
Frederick, 6
Nellie, 5
Albert, 2
Madeline, 3
Isabella, 9 mths
Children all born Durham Gateshead.

Hannah, 13, must be Mary on 1891 census.
I would say they returned to England c 1885.

All the dates add up perfectly.

Thankyou so much!

So it appears Madaline had Mary H(Hannah)out of wedlock and John must of adopted her as his own after they married.

I wonder if Madaline got pregnant while in Canada and that is why they returned to England...
