Hello, I am the daughter of William "Cecil" Humbey who died in April 2005. I am looking for any information in regards to my father's family. I believe he had two brothers, James and Robert, who are both deceased. It is also my understanding that my father was previously married and had three children (a son and two daughters) prior to his marriage to my mother. I just found out about this in the last year or so and since both of my parents are now deceased, I am would like to attempt to verify this information and possibly make contact with my half-siblings (if they are willing to do so).

I would appreciate any information in this regards
Thanks
Nordean Wellington

You are looking in a time period where not much information has been released due to Canada's privacy laws.
Births are only released to 1917; marriages to 1929 and deaths to 1939.
I did find these names on voter's list in Middlesex Ontario. They don't give much information, just addresses.
Voter's list 1974
165 Main Street London
Polling station was at Huron Heights High School 1245 Mitchell Street London Ontario
Humby, Robert Edward, sup't construction
Mrs Edith
Charles, accountant

Voter's List 1949 Middlesex East
Humby,
Robert, carpenter, Sub 16
Mrs Edith, Sub 16

A couple of Cecil Humbys on voter's list but they are in Newfoundland, Prince Arthur and Calgary.
A William Humby found in Halton on voter's list.

Was he in any wars? WW2 or Korean War? If so , you should be able to get his records from the government.

Thank you for your response. I also found those names you mentioned above on the voter's list. Robert Edward Humbey was my uncle. I may just be hitting a wall on this search. Thanks for your help.

Hi
Walls are meant to climb - or break through - during genealogy / family history research.
May take some time - and effort - well worth the results -

When was your father William Cecil Carlyle HUMBEY - born? Perhaps aprox 1930 ?
When did he marry your birth mother ?
Was he divorced at the time - or a widower ?
If Divorced - there may be Divorce papers available -
If a Widower -
OBITUARY - if published - depending on who arranges for the Obituary - may mention names and locations of other family members [ children from 1st marriage etc ] and locations of family members

Obituary Daily Times
HUMBEY, Robert; 76; London ON; London F-P; 2003-11-22;
HUMBEY, William "Cec"; 75; Petrolia ON; London F-P; 2005-4-4;
HUMBEY, William "Cec"; 75; Petrolia ON; Sarnia Observer; 2005-4-4;

Searching Online White Pages Directory - 411.ca
Finds only 4 HUMBEY surnames - Nationwide - Canada
3 Ontario - 1 Newfoundland/Labrador

Thank you for your response. My father was born Sept 17, 1930. He was, in fact, divorced when he married my mother in 1967. I have been unable to find any information regarding the divorce. I did one family tree that my father was mentioned in which mentioned the divorce, however, it is private along with the names of his ex-wife and children. Ancestry has indicated that this is due to the fact that they are still alive. Not sure if I can find information anywhere else.

I have my father's obituary (which my mother and I arranged). It mentions my father's late brothers, Robert Humbey and James Humbey). I have no other information on my father's family.

My mother knew of my father's previous marriage, obviously, as well as the fact that he had children from this marriage, however, neither of my parents ever told me this. I only found out about this after my mother's death from my aunt (which she let slip). I've tried to get more information from her, however, my uncle will not let her tell me anything more. I do not know the reasons behind this and it is extremely frustrating. So I am trying to do this on my own.

On the tree listed on Ancestry.ca
Is this your mother listed or previous wife?
Sharron Lee Oxenham 1945-2013.
No other information is given on the family.

Do you know where he lived previously?
He married your mother in 1967 so work back from that.
You can get your parent's marriage registration if you know the date and that should give his parents on it. Maybe one of his brothers was witness and their address would be on it as well.
His death registration should have his parents on it as well - if the informant knew who they were.
Try to find an obit re his brothers deaths. Nieces and nephews may be listed.

There is a Robert F Humbey on voter's list 1972 in London Ont.
A Robert E Humbey is buried Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, Section CM. Headstone reads
Robert E Humbey 1927-2003
Treba G 1938 -
Also on headstone
KRALKA
William 1923-1997
Doreen J 1926 -

Here is a place to try .

Note that the CRDP can only provide you with your divorce registry number and does not have copies of divorce certificates.
Additional information about the Registry can be found on Department of Justice Website.

Hope this helps some. Good luck.
Maybe is your uncle learns that you are on the divorce track he will volunteer the information and save you the time and effort.

Thank you so much for the information. You've given me more places to look that I never thought of. The tree on Ancestry.ca was started by myself. My mother is Sharron Lee Oxenham. Robert E Humbey was uncle. I managed to find his obit information. There was no information about his/my dad's parents located in the obit. His second wife, I believe, is Treba G named on the headstone. I do not know where she lives.

I will research the website link you provided and see if I can obtain any divorce details from my father's 1st marriage.

Again thank you for your time and assistance.
