Gertrude Pearl Anglin of Kemptville and formerly of Ottawa passed away at the Kemptville District Hospital on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at the age of 94.
Pearl was born on April 8,1907 in Sandfield Township. She was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Turnbull (nee Hartry). Pearl was raised on the family farm beside White Lake at Snowville on Manitoulin Island. She
was the youngest of a family of eleven children. Pearl graduated from the North Bay Normal School in 1926, and taught at Sandfield, Providence Bay and Kagawong before marrying Wendell Anglin in 1933. They were the last couple
to be married in the Snowville Presbyterian Church before it closed. Pearl moved to Island Falls, north of Cochrane, Ontario where her husband worked for the Abitibi Power and Paper Company at a hydro-electric generating station on the Abitibi River. In 1953, Pearl returned to the Manitoulin to
teach at No. 2 School in Carnarvon Township for three years while her son attended High School in Mindemoya. When her husband retired in 1962, she moved to Cardiff, Ontario and then to Ottawa in 1985, to be near her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wendell Anglin. Loving mother of Robert and his wife Barbara of Nepean. Loving grandmother of James and his wife Shanley of Boston, John and his wife Rachel of Ottawa and David and his wife Paula of Kingston. Great-grandmother of Amber, Jade and Tristan.
Predeceased by son Billy. A funeral service for the late Pearl Anglin was held on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Knox United Church, 25 Gibbard Ave., Nepean, at 2 pm. Interment of cremated remains will be held at the Mindemoya Cemetery. Arrangements under the care and direction of Grant
