My great great grandmother Mary Ann Parisien(Restoule) was born around 1813 St. Joseph's Island, Ontario. Her parents were Jacques Parisien and Marguerite Laframboise born at Lecloche, Manitoulin Island. On one of her children's record her name was (Momey) but the other documents say Parisien. Confusion. Any help with my family lines would be appreciated. I would like to hear from others who share this lineage. Her daughter Elizabeth Restoule Lavallee Frechette was born April 1841 at French River, Ontario. I believe she was the oldest child. The others were baptized at St. Ann's Penetanguishene, Ontario.
I have not found Elizabeth's baptismal.

Hi There. Thank you for the reply. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Retoule, was first married to Francois Xavier Lavallee at Penetanguishene, Ontario. He was a soldier in Co. "B" 27 Reg't. Michigan Infantry. He later died of his wounds so Elizabeth Retoule Lavallee married Andrew Frechette in 1888, Marquette, MI. Andrew was the son of Etienne Frechette and Marie Lemay. He was of French/Indian descent and came from the Bruce's Mine area of Ontario. Etienne Frechette was one of the Drummond Islanders who settled first in Penetanguishene, Ont. Other Frechette's that were Drummond Islanders were Charles, Michael, Jean Bte. and Louis.

Anita,

The only info I have is below. Have not been able to connect Etienne to any of the 6 Frechette families to date.

Descendants of Etienne Fréchette

1 Etienne Fréchette
. +Marie Lemay m: February 02, 1827 in Sainte-Anne's of Detroit Exterior Mission
...... 2 Suzanne Fréchette
......... +Edouard Rousseau b: September 21, 1835 in Killarney, Ontario m: January 21, 1858 in Holy-Name-of-Mary, Sault-Sainte-Marie, Ontario Father: Jean-Baptiste Rousseau Mother: Julie Lamorandière

I have info on Micheal and Jean-Baptiste Frechette but not certain about Charles and Louis. I have a copule of possible matches but that is just a hunch on my part.

Thanks for responding.

Mikie :-)

According to information I received many years ago regarding my Andrew Frechette, this is what the researcher found: Baptiste and Louis Frechette went from Drummond Is to Penetanguishene. Louis had a son Antoine who was also known as Etienne in some registers. Antoine married a Metis, Marie Lemai and they had at least three children who were baptized at St. Ann's. 1. Marie on Sept. 10, 1835 at three months old. 2. Sophie on May 18, 1841-no age given. 3. Andrew on Nov. 30, 1845, no age given. On Andrew Frechette's death record, April 4, 1920 Marquette, MI. it list his parents as Steven Frechette and Mary Priebe. I did not know if she was a step mother or the name was a dit. I figured I had the right Andrew because he married my great grandmother and they both came from the same place. Penetanguishene, Ont. Because he was not a blood relative to me I guess it was not of much interest at the time. I welcome any corrections or additions.

Hello There: Found something interesting. You made me get curious and I went to dig in my Frechette information. I found a letter written to Andrew Frechette and Elizabeth Retoule Lavallee Frechette dated April 16, 1914 from Bruce's Mines, Ontario. It is addressed to Uncle and Aunt and the letter's content is about a death in the family. The letter is signed: Good Bye from your nephew, John Rousseau, Bruce Mines, Ontario. The letter also mentions that a Uncle Steve died and that Auntie Nancy Robare still lives in the same place. This John Rousseau is telling his uncle that he and Hattie got married. I believe Hattis is his sister. (Hope someone can put these pieces together) From what I gather John is telling his uncle that his mother died. Most likely his mother was Andrew's sister.
This connects my step great grandfather, Andrew Frechette, to the Rousseau family. This letter was found in my great grandmother's purse. I have this purse. She died in 1927.
For anyone interested in the entire letter. Email me personally at anelson1@jamadots.com
