Obit sources or other info from 1840's timeframe?

Hello,

I'm trying to verify info on Frederick Eveland (1752-1841).

He was born in New Jersey and died in Clinton, Lincoln Co., Ontario. According to documents left behind by his grandson William, Frederick served in the American Revolutionary War in NJ. I'm trying to find some documentation that might list which side he served on. The obvious guess of course is that he must have been a Loyalist if he moved to Canada, but there are other suggestions/researchers that suggest otherwise (came to Canada well after most Loyalists did, and there are documents that show a man serving with the NJ militia with the same/similar name...not to be confused with the OTHER Frederick Eveland that served...2 different Frederick's.)

Frederick is burried with his wife Elizabeth in Clinton, Lincoln Co., Ontario. I'm wondering if there might be any biographical info on him available in the area...maybe an obituary (I don't know...were they doing obits in the 1840's?) He died April 13, 1841.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
