Look for additional information for my African American Great Grandfather (1853-1929). In the 1870 US census it states that he was born in Canada, so I did find in the 1861 Canada census that he lived in Ontatio, Lincoln County, St. Catherines with his parents and siblings. In 1867 they migrated to the US in Lockport, NY.

Can anyone hrelp me with any additional info about them living in Canada?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

Apparently the St. Catharines Library has a special collection of Black History books, clippings, photographs, etc. It might be worth a trip to view this collection if you don't live too far away.Follow this link to get further information:

You can also email the library with any local history questions. Be sure to tell them what you already know as you did above and any specific questions you have. Also, it might garner more information if you give the librarians Richard's father's and mother's names.
