About Our Family Research
It has taken me years to build this family history. An oral tradition was in the family stating that, we were descendants of United Empire Loyalist and that the original ancestor was from Ireland. Sgt.James Johnson was in the Loyal Rangers . He enlisted in Adams corp 1777 . After the Burgoyne campaigne , the survivors joined the McAlpin's Corp and he became a Sgt. Eventually , James and his family settled in Ernestown ,Upper Canada around 1780, with his wife and 5 children . Two sons Andrew and Daniel are listed with L.B.M. (Land Board Mecklenburg). On the UELAC site, James is listed as restored to U.E. list in 1807. James had 4 son's James , Daniel, Andrew and William. Eventually, Daniel's , son's Andrew and James moved to Whitby, Ontario. As Reach Twsp. opened up, George ( Andrew's son) and his brother moved to that area.
