Found this on a headstone in Carluke Cemetery - it's on a small stone which is sinking a little and only the following is visible above the earth:

Erected by James Shirlaw, Townhead of Braidwood. The above James Shirlaw, who died 8th Octr 1850 aged 73 years. Also his wife Mary Dunlop who died 12th Decr 1854 aged 69 years. Re erected by Janet Dyer in loving memory of her husband George Shirlaw, who died 15th April 1869 aged 52 years. [Remainder below earth]
