I am looking for information on Thomas Damas Premo/Primeau and Catherine Jane Gokie/Gauthier and their 3 children of Eganville, Renfrew, On. The names of the children were Catherine born 1869, Mary born 1870/1871 and Thomas born 1873. Catherine Jane died after Thomas was born in 1873 and Damas remarried Henriette St Louis. I think the 3 children went to live with their grandparents Joseph Gokie/Gauthier and Anne Serson/Searson. I find some censuses before Catherine Jane died and one when the children were listed with their grandparents. Damas and Henriette were my great-grandparents, their son Moise was my grandfather and Moise's daughter Rosalie was my mother. any information on Damas and his first wife and their children would be greatly appreciated.

The enumerator is very inventive with these spellings.

1851 census St Urbain Beauharnois County Quebec
PRIMEAU
Jean Bpt, b Chateauguay, Quebec, 30
Marie Reufiange?, 27, PQ
Jean Bpt, 4
Marie, 1
Women in Quebec are ususally enumerated under maiden name so this is likely Mary Rufio on 1861 census Renfrew although Thomas isn't on this one.

1851 census Bougham Renfrew County
GOCKIE
Joseph, 27
Ann Sarson, 27, Ireland
Mary A, 6
Jane, 4
Joseph, 2
Johanna, 1
Just says b Canada, except for mom.

Catherine, 12 and Thomas,8 are with grandparents Joseph and Ann Gothier in Granton Renfrew South on 1881 census under name Primoe.

Mary Primo, 10, is with father Thomas and wife Harriet in Granton Renfrew on 1881 census.

Napoleon Vincent, b 22 May 1888, s/o Joseph Vincent and Mary PRIMO.
There seems to be 2 Joseph Vincents in Renfrew, one married to a Mary Primo and one married to a Mary Bougnow? All about the same age.
Did not find a thing on either Thomas or Catherine.
