Where would I find orphanage records for the 1908-1911 time frame? Was there an orphanage in Lanark County? The father died in 1908 and 2 of the younger children were "adopted" out. Mother and older daughters went to Watertown, NY area. Father- Wilson Vandusen of Port Elmsley; his wife- Sarah Reid.

Hi, It is possible that records from any Orphanages - were eventually deposited with the Provincial Archive for safekeeping.

If there is an Archive for Lanark County - would know of any Orphanages located in the time frame.

Is there any information about Sarah VANDUSEN nee REID - Was the family eventually reunited .
or perhaps family kept in touch at some point. -

Albert Edward Vandusen born 1904 was adopted by another Lanark County family and raised as "John Albert". He personally told me about 30 years ago that he had found a sister in Watertown, N.Y. who was a Vandusen. So I guess that there were some happy endings after all.
I will ask the Archives in Lanark if they know of any Orphanage records for that time period and where they might be located.
Thanks for everyone's comments.
