Surnames: McCallum, McKellar
I am researching Peter and Ann (McKellar) from Forest, Ont. She is the daughter of James and Rose (Hare / Hair) McKellar from King Twp. York County. Ann was first married to John McCallum in York County, After John died she married ? McNaughton from York County. In 1879 Ann married Peter McCallum and lived in or near Forest. In the 1901 Forest census Peter is not shown, but a daughter Rosa McCallum is. Peter and Ann are buried in the Beachwood Cemetery in Forest. Ann was born approx. 1829 and died 1906.
Any additional information on this family would be appreciated.

Thank you
Ross Hern

My great-grandmother was a Hare (Matilda) from the Forest, Ont. region. She married Richard Frayne Jr. on May 23, 1870. They later moved to South Dakota for land thru the Homestead Act. I believe they moved to SD in 1887. They had several children at that time. Matilda's father was Ebenezer Hare and supposedly her mothers name was Elizabeth Dawson Hare. They were of Scot decent. Ebanezer's parents may have been Charles Manby Hare and his wife Sarah....still working on that part. Would like to share any info on the Hare's. E-mail me if you have anything.

Hello Ross - this message is coming a long time after you posted it - but I have a James and Rosann Hare (from Hull Yorkshire England). They had 8 children, two or more that died in England - they came to Canada in the 1840's and settled around Etobicoke. They had a daughter, Ann Elizabeth born around 1835? I don't have anything else about her other than she was born May 15, 1835 and baptized around Independent Church Holborn Street Chapel, Hull, York, England. The children of James and Rosann that came to Canada were Charles, Hannah, Thomas, Mary Ann, Peter, William. Don't know if this is helpful???
