Hi Janet,
I have just spent Saturday talking with my Aunt Dorothy (Phillips) Lockhart, 1919. She is the Widow of Owen Mitchell Lockhart, 1914 - 1983. I spent most of today updating my genealogy program to include information on the Lockharts, Stewarts, Smiths, Phillips. One of the additions was that of James Lockhart, 1814 - ? and Jane Hunter Purdon and all decendents. Our connection is through Andrew Lockhart, 1854 - ?, and Jennie Stewart, 1860 - ?. Drop me a line and let me know what information you would like.

Wondering if there is a different spelling for you Purdon? On 4 different death records it was spelled different, could be the person writting it out but I know many surnames are spelled different. Sara Jane married Joseph Smith in Canada, they had 3 children Christina born Oct 10, 1884 Wallaceburg Ont., James D born Dec 26, 1887 Canada and John Rogers born Feb 25, 1889 in Bay County, Bay City, Michigan. Sara's parents are Dennis Prudon and Christina Lazoy (Lajoie) both born Canada, Joseph father was John born England, mother unkown, this is all that I know at this time.. Would there be a connection there?

Lockhart's Lambton-Detroit
Hi Elwood, It's me Rita. I remember the Lockhart's, my Mom and Dad would talk about them as maybe they were relatives but I'm not sure how, I'll have to ask my brother's and sister's, maybe one of them will remember. I found the Phillip's that Frances Whitlock married, its Newman. They are buried in Beechwood Cemetery. Does that sound at all familiar to you. Thank's Rita

Ellwood, I know your post is old, but I am hoping you are still out there. Amazingly i all of the folks you mentioned in my database as well. My connection is very distant. James Lockhart's(1814)mother was Grizel Duncan who's brother was my GGGGGGrandfather. I also have alot down the line on the Lockharts. Would like to compare with yours. I also have extensive research on the Duncans if you'd like. You can reach me at oreelee@adelphia.net
